Great deal at the Del Mar Hilton

      from

I got a great rate on Priceline for this hotel, and then read terrible reviews online afterwards, so I was very nervous about our stay, especially since we were travelling with our 8 month old. But I couldn't have been happier with the service we received. We encountered no snobbery, and our special requests (refrigerator, 2 beds, non-smoking) were met with no problems. The room was clean, the food was good, and there was no noise from adjacent rooms. Beautiful grounds, and great pool. I highly recommend this hotel! (It never hurts to be good about tipping, especially your housekeeper.)

      Very nice!

      from

We recently stayed at the Del Mar Hilton for our anniversary/Valentine's Day. While the property does look a bit outdated, the rooms look like they have been renovated recently.

Extremely clean and very large, especially the bath. We had a standard king room, and the bathroom was probably twice the size than what we usually encounter. I am real stickler for cleanliness, and this room was extremely clean. The furnishings were nice although not unique or memorable, but we didn't expect them to be. If you come during racing season, this is the place to stay -- literally a stone's throw from the track. We did encounter noisy neighbors, but the staff apparently were on top of it, because it soon subsided, after we called down to the front desk to complain. Everyone was pleasant. We did not eat at the restaurant or have room service while we were there, since I wanted to try all the local restaurants instead. I have heard good things about the restaurant on the property, though.

      We will return !

Enjoyed this hotel very much. The front desk was friendly and helpfull for dinner suggestions. They have very clean and updated rooms. I noticed the bedspreeds were newer. The pool was clean ,as well as the spa. They also have a lounge in the lobby for those evening cocktails or a cold beer by the pool. We liked the short trip to the Del Mar Plaza for a sunset dinner and evening strolls through shops.

Quiet and peaceful-- loved the layout of the grounds

I have stayed there many times on business and drive a little farther to be there because I enjoy the grounds so much.

      Hilton Del Mar Excellent Location

      from

We stayed at the Hilton Del Mar over the 4th of July weekend. Newly remodeled rooms are clean and have extra large bathroom. Conveniently located across from the Del Mar Racetrack. Bellman drove us to and from the racetrack in Hilton van. Free parking, nice bar and pool/patio area. Would definitely recommend.

      Gorgeous

gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! The location, the hotel, even the employees....gorgeous!!!

      Beautiful

      from

Very beautiful hotel and grounds, with a nice pool. Rooms were good size and comfortable. This hotel could use a few more services like a continental breakfast, free paper, and a fridge in the rooms. Overall it was ok place to stay, but friendlier service would be nice.

      Padre Pub!

      from

... is, a major problem on board ships. Head offices began alcohol recovery programs on board (from crew to officers) for those wishing to go through the 12 step AA program. I remember in the 80’s on my first cruise contract, my boss in shore excursions would bring in his coffee cup first thing in the morning. He would open a desk drawer and pour in whiskey. He would pass the bottle to all of us. Crew can no longer bring alcoholic beverages on board ...

      Bicycles, Bicycles!

I love to ride bikes. On a bike, I feel completely alive. I’m entranced in my own carefree world where anything is possible. And because I’m so enthralled with my own little world, I generally like to bike alone. Aside from a new indie album or shuffled playlist, there is nothing but the sound of passing traffic.

So what we thought was going to be a busy day... Was... We woke up early and got the blog entry done and thought we would get a rolling start on the day by goin down to the foreshore to check out the sights before heading to the zoo (also to make sure we could get parking at the zoo)... It was quite a sight, what seems like an excessive bridge of 6 Lanes reaches into the sky and then sweeps off to the right before making land on Coronado Island the bridge must be 70 metres ...

      And so it begins...

... seats to each other that's obnoxious. Apparently some people complained because when we have about an hour left in the flight, the flight attendants have to talk to them about keeping it together and not making too much of a scene. They weren't pleased. One says, "This is Southwest airlines! It's supposed to be fun!" Yeah, I think they have the wrong idea of the image Southwest is going for...10 drunk middle aged women ...
