... animals it's unreal! They had an enclosure that contained 2 best friends. A dog and a cheetah!! The zoo pair them together because the dogs calm the cheetahs down as they are usually aggressive and hyper! They proved it by parading the cheetah in front of a crowd with no railings or fences and he just looked around and licked his trainer!! Got lost in the Hippo Trail (the map was wrong!!) but managed to cover the whole park as well as get pizza, ...

Travel Day

A travel blog entry by tradition on May 16, 2014

After checkout we drove out of the mountains, picked up the RV (all ok!) and followed I-15 towards CA. There are several fires in the San Diego area and we could see heavy smoke around the hills. Fortunately our campground is well away from those areas. ...

... to feed, so that was pretty cool to watch, especially since it took us 35 minutes in line to get to them. When we came across the Bengal Tiger, the keepers had just thrown in a white rabbit (really, you couldn't find a brown one so it wouldn't be so traumatic watching this), and he was busy showing his "kill" off to all the visitors...too funny! But the funniest of all the animals that day was the Rhino. He ...

... back at the hostel. It took a few hours to get the box ready and then we walked back to the post office and unfortunately had to pay $120 to post the box home which was devastating! We went back to the hostel and decided to stay in as we were going to sea world tomorrow. We woke up to our alarm and got a taxi to sea world as it was way too far to walk. We arrived around midday and spent the day watching all the shows and walking around to see the animals. There was ...

... people get minimum wage, they never work) BUT, the allowed me to get some good uninterrupted by people photos. The place has original construction buildings in different styles, early Spanish style and early colonised wood and stuff. There are a couple of streets, and a pedestrian only section that is a state park. We wandered round for a bit and went into some shops and such. We visited a jerky shop- Aaron is now the proud owner of a pack of all different Jerky's you can ...

Great deal at the Del Mar Hilton

    from

I got a great rate on Priceline for this hotel, and then read terrible reviews online afterwards, so I was very nervous about our stay, especially since we were travelling with our 8 month old. But I couldn't have been happier with the service we received. We encountered no snobbery, and our special requests (refrigerator, 2 beds, non-smoking) were met with no problems. The room was clean, the food was good, and there was no noise from adjacent rooms. Beautiful grounds, and great pool. I highly recommend this hotel! (It never hurts to be good about tipping, especially your housekeeper.)

    Very nice!

    from

We recently stayed at the Del Mar Hilton for our anniversary/Valentine's Day. While the property does look a bit outdated, the rooms look like they have been renovated recently.

Extremely clean and very large, especially the bath. We had a standard king room, and the bathroom was probably twice the size than what we usually encounter. I am real stickler for cleanliness, and this room was extremely clean. The furnishings were nice although not unique or memorable, but we didn't expect them to be. If you come during racing season, this is the place to stay -- literally a stone's throw from the track. We did encounter noisy neighbors, but the staff apparently were on top of it, because it soon subsided, after we called down to the front desk to complain. Everyone was pleasant. We did not eat at the restaurant or have room service while we were there, since I wanted to try all the local restaurants instead. I have heard good things about the restaurant on the property, though.

    We will return !

Enjoyed this hotel very much. The front desk was friendly and helpfull for dinner suggestions. They have very clean and updated rooms. I noticed the bedspreeds were newer. The pool was clean ,as well as the spa. They also have a lounge in the lobby for those evening cocktails or a cold beer by the pool. We liked the short trip to the Del Mar Plaza for a sunset dinner and evening strolls through shops.

Quiet and peaceful-- loved the layout of the grounds

I have stayed there many times on business and drive a little farther to be there because I enjoy the grounds so much.

    Hilton Del Mar Excellent Location

    from

We stayed at the Hilton Del Mar over the 4th of July weekend. Newly remodeled rooms are clean and have extra large bathroom. Conveniently located across from the Del Mar Racetrack. Bellman drove us to and from the racetrack in Hilton van. Free parking, nice bar and pool/patio area. Would definitely recommend.

    Gorgeous

gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! The location, the hotel, even the employees....gorgeous!!!

    Beautiful

    from

Very beautiful hotel and grounds, with a nice pool. Rooms were good size and comfortable. This hotel could use a few more services like a continental breakfast, free paper, and a fridge in the rooms. Overall it was ok place to stay, but friendlier service would be nice.
