    Outstanding Customer Service

    from

Exhausted after a 24 hour flight from London, we'd prebooked one night at this airport hotel to recover. Our early morning arrival was well before the normal check-in and the reception staff wanted to make an additional charge for early use of our room. Tired (and probably not a little irrational) I tried to negotiate an alternative solution. In steps Christian, the Manager, who quickly offered use of the shower facilities in the gym to freshen up while he attempted to locate a room. First though, he personally brought our suitcases through to the gym and organised towels and toiletries. By the time we'd showered, changed and made our way back to Reception, he'd organised a clean room at no extra charge. The reason I'm so impressed? I think if I'd looked harder when booking the room I'd have seen the additional charge for an early arrival. I'm a Blue Hilton Honours Card member (that's the lowest tier) so just another customer to them, but I was treated as an individual with my needs recognised. We were so impressed we booked to stay there the night before returning home - but this time we arrived after the check-in time!

By the way, the rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. And what is it about an airport hotel when you overlook the runway that turns you into a plane spotter?

    Two different experiences

    from

Great location, literally steps away from both the Domestic and International terminals. Given the proximity to the airport and runways the hotel is remarkably quiet inside.

Front desk staff were a mixed bunch. On our first visit there were plenty of staff but no-one seemed to be interested in checking in new guests. On our second visit we received much better service.

Small indoor swimming pool but not much else in the way of guest facilities. There is no Executive Club at this property.

Restaurant and bar are typical airport fare and reasonably expensive. The good news is that is a very short walk across to the terminals where there are a selection of bars and restaurants that offer much better value and are more lively - the Hilton was a bit quiet in the evening.

On our first stay we were given an "upgraded" room on the top floor. Seemed like a fairly normal room - good size and large bathroom. Unlike Hiltons in Europe there were no amenities provided, i.e. water, chocolate or wine.

On our second stay we were upgraded to a Junior Suite, took a few hours to get key cards that worked but great size room and again a large bathroom. This time there were complimentary chocolates and water.

This is a great hotel for the day before you fly somewhere and the SkyBus service into the city is very regular and costs A$15 one way - journey time is 15 minutes.

Fab view of the Airport, Kept my 2 year old happy.

    from

We were only staying her for one night, as we had an early morning flight to Sydney. We had just spent a week in a camper van, so looking forward to sleeping in a real bed, plus i had picked up a 24 hour sickness bug.

We arrived at the hotel by taxi on the ground floor and had to carry our 3 bags, stroller and 2 year old up in the lift to the reception. There is no doorman etc. The reception was being looked after by someone that looked about 15, but he was very polite and helpful. We left our bags to be brought to the room. Our room was large with two queen beds and very modern.

Then my daughter noticed that she could see the planes at the airport and so she was happy for the rest of the evening.

I spent the remainder of the evening in bed, but my husband and daughter enjoyed the room service. It was reasonable for this type of accomdation. My hotel rate A$235 (booked directly with the hilton) included breakfast for all three of us. They delivery it to your room as well.

The hotel is ideally located to get to the terminal, you can check out by filling out a form and posting it on your way out. You then walk over to the terminal via a covered walk way.

This hotel is great for being close to the airport for a one night stay, but a little too far out for being a tourist in Melbourne.

I would recommend this hotel and stay here again if i had an early morning flight.

    Good standard airport hotel

    from

Stayed here the night of 5th November after arriving on a late flight from Malaysia. Although live in Melbourne couldn't be bothered driving home to other side at 9.30pm so pre-booked a package via a website.

    Pros:

    1. Hotel is right outside the terminal building (Domestic and International. Couldn't be any closer unless it was in the terminal. Sits on top of multi-storied car park with views of both terminal and countryside/city.

    2. Rooms quite modern with separate shower and bath. Windows full width of room. Light blind and heavy lightshutout blind (creates total darkness). Good selection of cable channels and in house movies.

    3.Very comfortable beds.

    4. Ice machine on each floor.

    5. Good priced bar and lounge on lobby floor (Airo bar and cafe)

    6. Free bottles of still water in room.

    7.Good sized in rooom safe.

8.Room service reasonably priced (AUD$20 for a steak sandwich and fries which was filling and really nice steak and bread.

    Cons:

    1. Full room service menu finishs at 11pm - isn't the point of a airport hotel being that you could arrrive late at night and want a full meal. They switch over to a light menu (very restricted) and the chef goes home leaving what one can imagine is the receptionist to whip up spagetti, a burger and the like.

    2. Some parts of the hotel are looking a little worse for wear. A glass top table in the bar had a crack through it - when you ran your finger along it you can feel jagged edges which could be dangerous - don't know how long it was there but isn't a good look. There were other similar issues with pieces of

    furniture.

3.Breakfast your usually suspects - help yoursewlf buffet with a make yourself juicer. But the juicecontainer was never cleaned while I was there so if someone made carrot juice one moment then the next person mad eorange juice it started to become intermingled. The breakfast staff didn't seemed to be over joyed to be up at that time of the morning either.

    4. Horrible auto charging minibar although room manual did say to call if we wanted it locked or room made in the fridge/chiller.

Over, despite the above cons, a good hotel, performing its task adequetely. There is also a health centre and a plunge pool attached and I believe parking over night using the airport car park is reduced to AUD$10 if staying at the hotel. I got a package that included breakfast,, 2 free drink vouchers for the bar, a choiceof a inroom movie or a bottle of wine for AUD$246 which is good considering that is the price you usually pay room only. Although booked on a site other than Hilton, no problem when checking in and all package was recored.

Car rental offices right underneath the hotel and lobby is on the 4th floor so you take a lift up. They do keep a store of luggage trolleys behind the staircase in the lobby so don't worry next morning.

Will post some pics in due course.

    Modern fantastic hotel

    from

We were only here for one night as we had an early morning flight the next day. This hotel is particularly great as you have a direct walkway from the hotel to both the domestic and international terminals.

The rooms were great and very spacious (family of four) with two queen beds. View from the window of the airport was amazing too. We were on the 8th floor! The bathrooms were glorious, clean and modern with radio inside. The bed was also the most comfortable that I've ever slept in and you also have a pillow selection! You can choose what type of pillow you wish to sleep and there were several different types too.

I cannot comment on food as we did not eat here owing to such an early morning flight (6am!)

The staff were friendly and helpful.

I would say this hotel is especially suitable for businness travellers as it had a nice spacious desk and exceeelnt internet access too.

    An excellent airport hotel

    from

My wife and I have now stayed at the Hilton at Melbourne Airport on 6 occasions, most recently on 20th. and again on 29th. July 2005, before and after a trip to Fiji. It is an excellent hotel. From our perspective, its main attraction is its close proximity to the international and domestic terminals, which are only a short walk away via covered walkways. It would be hard to imagine a hotel closer to airport terminals. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, with double blinds that, when lowered, virtually eliminate outside daylight. Hilton bedding and pillows are as good as it gets. Those rooms that face the runways offer interesting insights to the operations of a modern airport, and aircraft buffs can have a field day watching the multiple take-offs and landings. Guests' cars can be parked under cover in the short term carpark for only $10.00 per night, and if they park on Level 2 they have easy access to the hotel lift. Buffet breakfasts are a treat, and guests can squeeze their own juice from a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. The prices of the hotel's restaurant and room service meals are on the high side, but the meal quality is also high. Staff are friendly and competent, and are very keen to please. We used stay in the old and very tired Travelodge, on the far side of the airport, and I have awful memories of struggling with luggage, trolleys and children over the hundreds of metres to or from the terminals or waiting for a courtesy van. There'll be no more of those frustrations and inconveniences for us.

    Excellent hotel, great pillow selections

    from

We stayed at the Hilton for one night before our flight. The hotel is very modern like Japaness style. Our room was on the 9th fl. with airport view. The room was good size, very modern and clean. There is a separate shower and tub in the bathroom, also a speaker for the TV in the bathroom. Slippers and robe are provided. Bed was very comfortable. The best thing is a menu of pillow selection, soft, hard, feather, v pillow, etc. We called for 2 pillows and they arrived within minutes of the call. The V pillow was the best place in bed for watching TV. The view of the airport was excellent throught the large picture windown. There are 2 pull down shades for the window so you get complete privacy and shade if needed. There was no airport noise. It was a luxurious room. The restaurant was rather small for a hotel of this size. There was a wait when we when down for dinner at 8 PM. We ate at the bar with the same menu. The food was excellent and the price was comparable with the city, not too much overpriced. staffs were very friendly. If you want cheaper food, walk to the airport, more selections for a lower price. Oh the food at the airport was also very good and cheap.

    Excellent short stay hotel

    from

I stayed here in transit. Room was comfortable. Shower was hot with enough pressure. Grout around the shower stall floor needed a thorough cleaning. This is a modern hotel designed for the business or tourist in transit. It was functional and met all my needs.

City hotel standards at an Airport Hotel

    from

On my way from Dubai to Auckland I decided to break up my trip with a night at the Melbourne International Airport Hilton Hotel. Not expecting much from an Airport hotel I was in for a pleasant surprise.

I arrived at 1am to be greeted by a very cheerful reception desk staff who despite my jetlagged state managed my check in very efficiently and explained all that you would expect. After struggling with the keyed security elevator (Tip: Even with sleep deprived jetlag listen to the instructions on how to reach your floor) I found my deluxe spa room on the top floor and immediately fell in love with its modern décor and opbulent furnishings.

My first stop was the spa bath in which I lavished my tired body with luxurious aromatherapy products and proceeded to retire to an equally lavish king bed for a blissful sleep. No worries about airport noise - couldn't hear a thing.

The next day greeted me with a wonderful view of the airport, and as an aviation buff I was mesmerized with the comings and goings of the airport throughout the day. Broadband internet for my laptop with the desk positioned for excellent views made catching up on work a pleasure.

In-room dining was excellent and my breakfast arrived right on time at 5am the next day giving me a stress free start to the rest of the day of travel. The staff were all young and very friendly.

The only negatives where that no porters were on hand at 1am to help with my bags so I used the airport trolleys to take my own luggage to my room. The red wine I ordered for dinner actually arrived as white wine and my pot of coffee ordered for breakfast did not arrive, however a quick phone call and both were fixed within minutes with due apologies.

I've stayed in several Melbourne City hotels and overall I would have to say that the Hilton Airport Hotel was the best I've stayed in whilst in Melbourne. For somewhere to refresh during your trips I would highly recommend. For aviation enthusiasts you will find no better.

    Best airport hotel ever

    from

I must have stayed at over 50 airport hotels around the world. Most are dreary places aiming clearly at tired businessmen who arrive late and leave as soon as possible. And it shows in the hotel. But the hilton melbourne airport despite being within walking distance of the main terminals, can compete with the best that the city has to offer. Clean modern building and minimalist interior, very young friendly staff, well equipped good sized rooms, and above all a restaurant which even attracts diners from the city. The only disadvantage-nowhere attractive to walk/jog if you want to.
