Pretty Woman & Kid Rock

Back in The USA

Arrived safe and sound, back in the Good Ole USA. Flight across the Pacific Ocean was uneventful. Mostly I slept for the 12 hour flight between Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Unlike the trip across, the middle seat was occupied so I was not as comfortable in my window seat. So sleeping helped pass the time and keep me from getting frustrated with my very restless neighbor. Since my flight arrived later in the evening, I had previously decided to catch a flight back to Denver the next morning. So ...

Flying home (temporarily)....

Only adding this for the pin on my world map. Should have been a 7 hour stay in the airport between flights but due to a massive delay in Auckland I got to stay in the Hilton, full board for 1 evening...but I had to buy my own drinks, shame!! Nice hotel...and it wasn't until the following morning I saw there was a strip joint a few hundred metres down the block (they weren't advertising that in the hotel foyer!).

Astronaut Training....preparation for our flying

The day starts with a hardcore workout training (for astronauts) at hermosa beach. The rest of the day is reserved for a special astronaut tranining at Six Flags. The evening we spend at the Beach, Paradies Cove an amazing romantic place. Pinguins, diving Pelicans and dinner at the beach is our moto.

In LA with Amma

Compared with the intensity of San Ramon, my time in LA was a more relaxed easy going time a sort of "vacation" compared to the intensive seva and regged lifestyle in San Ramon. In San Ramon I slept in the living room of an apartment on the floor with many other devotees. Eventually I actually had a foam mat to sleep on which felt like a luxury. In LA I was in a hotel at the LAX hilton, had a actual *bed* to sleep in and many other divine amenities including access to a pool, jacuzzi, beach s...

Los Angeles - 17th October again!

Well, here I am reliving Tuesday 17th October all over again. Not sure after that long flight my brain is quite up to working this whole date business out, but I can't complain I suppose. I'll have to make sure I am careful when I fly out to LIANZA next year, because it is right on my birthday and if I'm not careful I'll lose it on the flight over and that would be totally unacceptable!! So, my flight from Auckland was excellent. Although the plane was not as new as the one I flew out on, it ...

Los Angeles

Well, I can quite emphatically say that the bed in this hotel has been the most comfortable so far. It is huge for a start - I can lay in the middle and not be able to reach the edge in any direction - it is really soft, and really cosy. I only wish I could have stayed in it for longer than until 6:30am when my alarm rudely awakened me reminding me that breakfast was on it's way up in 15 minutes. Breakfast this morning was what they categorised a 'fruit feast'. Basically it was an enormous fr...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Hilton Los Angeles Airport

Okay, but not fantastic

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel has a beautiful lobby and entrance. But that is where the beauty stops. When we arrived in our room on the 4th floor, I felt as though I had stepped back into the 80's. The room was extremely worn, the comforter was ancient and worn thin, and the bathroom was so small you could hardly turn around in there. Luckily for us, we only had to stay for 4 hours because we checked in around midnight and had to leave by 4 am to catch our early flight. This hotel is okay if you don't have to spend too much time there.

Worst nights sleep ever

from katrinawehipeihana
After a long flight from Australia, the last thing we wanted was to be delayed at check in. As Hilton Honors members we thought this would be a quick procedure - wrong. The Hilton Honors counter was not attended and the check in line was very long. When we finally got to our room it faced a Fire Station which kept us awake all night with sirens going off. The room was in need of a complete overhaul. We left early in the morning and left a letter of complaint for the Manager but never had a reply. This was the worst nights sleep we have ever experienced at a Hotel anywhere in the World.

LAX Hilton OK but beware of the front desk clerks.

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the LAX Hilton twice in the past eight days. Like the other reviews I booked on Priceline and got a great value of $40.00 per night. Prior to my arrival I called reservations and requested a non smoking king room. Upon arrival the front desk clerk told me it wasnt's available. Since I was checking in quite late, that was fine. However at the tripp we stayed there again, this time I phoned reservations again, confirmed my room, upon check in I was told again it was not available at 6p.m. When I questioned the same clerk who I had dealt with the first time, she rudely informed me that when you priceline a room be happy with what you get. Hmm...could it have been that the NBA All Star game was in town ant the rooms were going for $169.00? After I threw a complete fit, I received the room I requested. I then double checked with reservations who were extrememly polite and helpful and I did have the room reserved and that puting me in an inferior room was not the front desk clerks decision. I filled out a comment card at the hotel and alerted the management complete with employee names. Next time I head to the LA Area I will avoid this hotel like the pague. I would much rater pay more and deal with polite and business like staff.

Great LAX value if booked at a deep discount

from efsch
This middle-aged, middle-class hotel can be a great value and a refreshing LAX-transit stay if booked at a deep internet discount. If you do not mind using an opaque (hotel not specified) internet site like Priceline, you can usually obtain an overnight here for about $35 plus $12 in tax by specifying "LAX 3-star" in your $35 bid. This hotel is so large, even with conventions in town, that rooms are usually available for this discount. At this $35 plus tax non-refundable, non-changeable rate, this heavily-used but reasonably well-maintained full service hotel with free (every 15 minutes) shuttle from LAX is a great way to break up a long air journey. The rooms are standard in size, with formica-particle board furniture, but are comfortable and acceptably quiet for the near-airport location. Just watch out for the high price of any add-ons (phone calls, room service, dining room, etc.). Only the reasonable $6 guest fee for the very extensive fitness facility seemed worth the charges). At the rack rate (who pays that anymore?), one can probably do better elsewhere.

Luv'd it!

The shuttle was excellent driver very personable professional connection was great. Hotel was beautiful paid $89 got more than my money's worth. No complaints with staff or room. Restaurants were ok.

Waiter was excellent. When I complained that my oatmeal from buffet was cold - he warmed it told the head waiter and came back to explain why it was cold (the lid was not placed back and it had probably cooled).

This will be my place to stay when in LA

Loved the Hilton. Stay here if you fly in or out of LAX

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed here in Dec. 2003. We flew in late on a Friday night and stayed only one night. The hotel was very beautiful. Our room was very clean. The king bed was very comfortable. This was the best place we stayed at during our trip. The hotel is in a great area. I love the free shuttle to the airport. You did not have to wait more than 5 minutes at the airport. I will definitely stay here again if I fly into LAX. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They have several restuarants to choose from. Our room was $79 and wonderful.

Great hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I had no trouble at all getting on the hotel shuttle, it conveniently drove around the outside loop to where I was.

I checked in with friendly staff. In taking advantage of their Miles & Points program, I handed the clerk my US Airways card and Hilton card.

She was extremely nice and accomodating.

Room: Although old looking and equiped with an ancient A/C system, it was nice enough for me. I had a wonderful view of the runway and the pool.

Unless you don't like airplane noises, I would definitely reccommend the LAX Hilton.

It was nice

The Hotel itself is a (8).The Hilton has good views of the gardens, and the airport. The restaurants in the hotel are very nice! (9) I think "payin for parking" is the stupidest idea ever!! You already have to pay for the rooms, phone bills, food, shopping & then you have to pay for parking? thats stupid! I'm sure other people would agree with me on that one. The Pool is little, 4 hot tubs.only one worked when i stayed here for 2 weeks.I thought to myself,a big hotel with one working hot tub. The Hilton needs to fix the Hot Tubs so people can relax but i'd give the pool area a 7. I had a nice stay here for a long 2 weeks!

A great stay!!!

Where the person above had a bad experience at around teh same time I was tehre - my father and I had a great one!

For an airport hotel - it was clean - the staff probably the most helpful out of anywhere I had stayed in my five weeks of travel around the states and canada. They extended our time in the room on check out because of all our luggage and our plane leaving later. They found a solution for us with everything.

our room was lovely. It was a nice size, clean, great showers, comfortable beds and nice bathroom.

The restaurant downstairs for dinner was fantastic!! The breakfast was great as well -

I love hotels with gyms - so for me having use of a great gym was a bonus before oour long flight home to Australia.

I would definatly stay here again. The hilton LA Airport was a fantastic end to our long trip.

Worst nights sleep since having kids

from triciacarole
We arrived at the hotel at 10:00pm, using it to overnight before our onward flight home to the UK the following morning. As Hilton Honours members we were upgraded to the executive floor, the room was OK in size and clean, but the washbasin was full of cracks and when we got into bed I noticed the sheet had a hole in it. But worse was to come. I have never had such a bad night sleep since my children were new born babies, given the fact the it was an airport hotel, I presumed the rooms would have been soundproofed, how foolish was I.The restuarant and bistro/coffee bar were also over priced $25 for coffee and toast for 4. Last year we had stay at the Hilton Anaheim which offered greater value on its menus. I presume that many of the hotels clients are business people who charge their bills to their companies accounts so the hotel can charge high prices. I would not stay here again or reccomend it.
