... ve had quite a busy week this week so it's nice to be having a bit of a rest tonight. On Tuesday I went to the 'Trivia' night with the nurses again to make use of our winnings from Friday. This week I was actually of some use though and came up with quite a few answers. Here's one for you (and don't use google!): What is the only word in the English language that ends with "amt"? I thought I'd make it an interactive blog this week; unfortunately I can't ...
... I've got to retrieve my washing from the dryer and hope it hasn't shrunk!! I had a bit of a nightmare trying to work the washing machine at first, as you actually have to do the exact opposite of what the instructions tell you. Fortunately I had ignored them (as I couldn't understand what they were on about!) and just did my own thing until it eventually whirred in to action. Speak to you all soon. It's meant to be a sunny week here so I should be out and about doing quite a bit to tell you ...
... of a sandwich with fruit and veg for pudding and sat watching tv for the rest of the night I'm pretty tired now after a long first day in and have a nice 730 start at the clinic tomorrow. Sqn Ldr Faulds is showing me around his squadron in the morning though so I've got another busy day lined up! The weather's meant to be rainy tomorrow which won't be a nice change from the blue skies and heat of today, but hopefully it will hold out for the rest of the ...
... luckily just the side pocket it was in. The man in front lent his chair back annoyingly, so my leg room was slightly restricted with that plus my water bottle on the floor to prevent further leaking and the guy sitting next to me's pillow and blanket he somehow passed on to me. I had a pretty salty beef thing for food- I couldn't really say what it was meant to be but it was nice. This was accompanied by a bread roll with no butter but as many free ...

As if I didn't already love Weezer enough, this cruise has completely reinforced my loyalty and respect for them more than I imagined it could. Yes, I love their music. They are a great live act and they have remained themselves despite years of money ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Crowne Plaza Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel
My family of three stayed here a few weeks ago. I will begin with the only poor aspect. That was at check-in. We arrived about 8 or 9 o'clock. There were three ladies working the front desk, but only two customers being waited on. When the thrid employee finally moved over to her computer, she made no effort to acknowledge me. Two men came up and stepped in front of me. She helped them. Finally, I stepped forward. No "good evening, how can I help you" or any other polite greeting. Just a flat "Yes." She never smiled, never said said anything more than she absolutely had to. She did not even say "thank you" or "hope you enjoy your stay," not a thing.

It was awesome!
I stayed at the Hilton 4/13 - 4/15/2004. When I arrived I was surprised that I was upgraded to an executive suite, which I didn't request! The room faced the St. John River, had a balcony and was beautiful and clean. The room also faced the freeway, but I never had any problems with noise. I even left my balcony door open most of the time. The Ruth Chris is awesome! There is a water taxi that comes to the Hilton that will take you from the Hilton to the River Landing. The Hotel is also in walking distance to the Chart House and River City Brewing Company. I can't wait to go back next year and I will absolutely stay at the Hilton!
Another example of Hilton inconsistency
I wonder why the only two favorable reviews of this hotel were submitted by someone who lives in Jacksonville. Why would he/she stay at the hotel? Perhaps an employee of the hotel trying to boost the ratings? Anyway more to the point, this hotel is an example of one oh the many Hiltons that have not had any updating in years. In my opinion Hilton is the most inconsistent chain. This represents the low end of what Hilton has to offer. It is full service, but if you don't have an interest in room service or the lounge, you'd be better off in a newer lower priced chain.
The other reviewer is right, the room we had was 80s-looking but to me clean is more important. After reading the other reviews of the Omni and Adams Mark I chose the Hilton because it seemed the least offensive of the hotels in the area.
Awesome Location that Sizzles!
Truely the culture and variety of Jacksonville. Superb accomodations and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse make this an excellent choice for business, leisure and ball game visitors. This facility is fully loaded with all the amenities including a pool and jacuzzi overlooking the water! You can also cruise on a wonderful dinner cruise directly from the hotel's dock! Easy access to downtown and Alltel make this the #1 choice for the truely savvytraveler!
I booked the Hilton Riverfront on their website for $62 a night. I thought I was getting a deal, but was very disapointed upon arrival.
Good Hotel, Fair rates and excellent staff. I enjoyed my stay and will always come back.
Ecellent Value if you Open Your Eyes
I don't know quite where the other reviewer stayed but the Hilton is awesome. Certainly much nicer than the Adams Mark across the water. The onsite Ruth's Chris and pool are great. The Princess of Jacksonville leaves from the hotel pier and is great for the second night's dinner. The rooms and conference room are fine, certainly better than the Radisson! I found them adequately furnished and very clean!
A truly ugly hotel
If ever a hotel needed a renovation, this would be it. They make a valiant effort to keep the guest rooms clean, but with ugly wallpaper borders and, I'm not kidding, a seashell-scalloped bathroom sink, this place looks like Home Depot circa 1986.The restaurant and bar areas are just crammed into the side of the lobby and should be avoided. The bar at the Ruth's Chris and the end of the corridor has a much better atmosphere. The fitness center is a step up from a joke.Oh and don't think just because you have a "guaranteed late arrival" that there will actually be a room waiting for you. I've had to walk to the not-so-adjacent Radisson at midnight.
