On Saturday, November 26, I was still working when we pulled into Guam. Though I knew it was the first day of my first port stop, I had subdued my excitement, knowing full well that my department almost always works the first day into a liberty port, since supply can't really rest when there are still mouths to feed and sailors who need toothbrushes, Cokes, and candy on the ship. So late in the morning, when I realized we had already stopped moving, I went out to the aft starboard sponson two...
Guam, Guam admiralschiffHafa Adai! Guam's way of welcoming their visitors. After unpacking my stuffs, I went outside to find dinner and to my surprise, almost everything is written in Japanese, or is it Korean. I ended up eating inside the confines of my room. I woke up early and did an early morning jog and then breakfast buffet. I arranged for a late check out and then went to Agana to see their famous Latte Stone. I had difficulty catching the tourist bus because they do not stop at my stop, where I was the only ...
Tumon, Guam hecqsGuam is not what I expected. Driving around Guam, I could be in an American town. Tumon, the tourist center and location of most hotels is a modern shopping paradise for Japanese and Korean tourists. The rest of the island has more personality. Driving around the South is an scenic trip. A couple of small villages can be found on the shores of the Ocean. Crabs, of all animals, like to cross the road in large groups. They are not exactly easy to dodge, so many of them become permanently implan...

ok... so after 2 months of being P_O ed about not finding Lower Sigua Falls the last time (should have brought a map blog), Joe and I headed out again with a different approach this time... using a map! We bought a guam hiking guidebook and map to navigate through the trails. I can't say that either helped much because the entire hike is Guam's mother nature idea of an ultimate CF but we did get there eventually so thats the ...
Yigo, Guam guamblog... a lot of Divers feed this guy and he is very friendly... coming out, swirling around you and even touching your mask. At one point it shot straight at me and litterally ran into my camera.. not the brightest crayon in the box but hey.. I guess you dont have to be when people feed you all day! The other real cool thing about that particular dive was the visibility. Its far outside of the harbor so theres not as much ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... the Japanese and later by us Americans when we bombed the heck out of it on our way back.. The spanish also used it as a vantage point. The hike starts out on a very steep cliff, and decends down rocks and boulders and a flight of old spanish steps. There are several ropes on the way down for you to "rappell" down with to keep a good balance. Once down the cliff the scenery overtakes you into a palm tree jungly canopy. Complete with every bug ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... to us like glue.... my shoes have been washed 3 times and are now "pink".. After about an hour of wandering around pretty much aimlessly, the CG guys snagged us up and offered to bring us halfway to where the path became easy to follow. We all jumped in the back of a pickup, ate slinging mud while they splashed through puddles and jumped out after the 3rd or 4th time they got stuck. They again gave us directions but you can guess where that ...
Tumon, Guam guamblog... kerrotaan, että armeija on totaalisesti saastuttanut paikan! Hupsista vaan! Kertakaikkiaan kuvottaa edustaa tälläista Homo Sapiens roskarotua! Inarajan Natural Pools Todella ...
Tumon, Guam travellerhans... circle of the northern part then drove south. Since Guam was a major battlefield during WWII, there are lots of monuments and memorials commemorating the heroic acts of the brave men and women of the Allied power, which also describe the events that took place in Guam. I noticed that there were lots of Japanese tourists in Guam.
Guam, United States bejtenorio... for clothes. Not only was I at a mall, I was at MACY's at Lennox. Now I was at Macy's Micronesia Mall. This mall, while interesting, is not the exotic locale I imagined when I thought of sights to see in Guam. I am grateful to the kind women at the Macy's who helped me find something simple, and on clearance. We headed back to the hotel and I called JAL to see if ...
