Good ride and good day off. The ride was 75 miles uphill with a sweet sweet 10 mile downhill to cap it off. For our day off we had an awesome friendship visit at a park with a local group where we tossed the ol pigskin around a played some kickball. Well "Merry Christmas" to all. Another big day today and the longest one by car. I got up at 5.20am and went to the gym. There was this guy in there before me and he didn't respond to my "Merry Christmas" - what a bah humbug!! Workout done - quick breakfast and then we were on the road by 9am. But when we got to the top, it was worth it. Gem Lake is really small and has no inlet or outlet. It is in a natural depression and is filled with melt water from the winter snow and some rain water. On one side there is a high cliff that makes like a natural amphitheater. People were climbing up and down the cliff the whole time we were there.
