          ... Steve did the best out of all of us because of his snowboarding experience. But we only got a few runs each before the sand really started to heat up and we took that as our cue from to leave. Our next stop was like an oasis after being submersed in the sand for so long.           ... also possible to hike the Barr Trail that climbs some 7,000 feet over 13 miles to the summit That was definitely out of our league, but thousands of hardy travelers make that trek each year!

          We had reservations on the 9 a.m. train, but changed them to the afternoon train when we awoke to a steady rainfall and thick cloud cover. That gave us time to drive into Colorado Springs where we enjoyed breakfast at Mountain Shadows Restaurant, a quaint family-owned establishment.

          ... about this place other than the falls were: man-made tunnel with elevator, the somewhat-bouncy steel stairs leading up to the falls that were crazy-steep, and the nice long hike that we took up so we could see out to the city.
