57 DAYS AND COUNTING

My dear friends: It's getting colder in Canada and my thoughts are wandering to warmer climes. On January 12/2010, I fly to Managua, Nicaragua and then work my way north ending up in Cancun, Mexico. From there, I fly to join many members of the Gaudun family in Daytona Beach. If you would rather not get notifications of my travel blogs just send a brief "no thank you" to this travelpod . No problem. Hasta la vista baby. Steve

01 Meandering South

After circumnavigating Lake Superior we headed for Milwaukie where Cindy and her siblings celebrated her Mum's ninetieth birthday by taking her to the casino and a football game (in a bar since the Packers were away - they lost in overtime) in a fifty foot RV. You're going where??? (a pre-departure preview)

... but it means that the weather is a bit cooler and that the roads to some areas of the country aren't passable. We'll be sticking to the Southwest area of the country around Reykjavik. From Reykjavik, we fly to Paris. We're only there for the weekend, but can't wait to see the city's highlights. First thing on Monday morning, we fly to Tunis, Tunisia. When I thought I was going to be traveling on my own, one ...

Day 105 Toronto Canada

... Castle house (Casa Loma, Castle on the hill (Spanish) Rick recalled from his previous visit (although he was getting confused about which city he had seen it in, because it really was not advertised in the brochures we had gathered about Toronto) The self guided tour of this Castle built in 1911 by an extremely rich Canadian, Sir Henry Pellat who had made a lot of money investing and building the first electric power station on Niagara falls, with an exclusive contract to ...

The festival and the serendipitous after party...

... and they patched it up with duct tape. Which cut into the set time. They weren't as good as I remembered, so I just left. Convinced that all the clubs were full (which they pretty much were) I went to the legendary Rex for some jazz by The Worst Pop Band Ever. I needed some chilling out time and it was great. After that, I didn't know what to do, so I walked on down to Front St. for some of the worst hip hop I've ever heard in my life. Just awful. Luckily, it was 2 a.m ...

PR Meeting, Denise's party

... the cowboy-style cop that we were little angels and he said "That's the best answer you could have". Then we were off to the International Sports Bar & Grill, a typical suburban bar on Cawthra Rd. in the ouskirts of Toronto. It was interesting to meet all these people that Denise had told me about, and I had some nice conversations with Alison and stuffed my face with calamari: And here ...

Recaps and thoughts for those who follow....

... trunk jockeyed around by a valet. Pack accordingly. My tips on packing light: - Lay out everything you think you're bringing with you in your pack - including the stuff you're going to have in your carry-on bag. - Now, eliminate what you will not need - ie: Dolce & Gabbana ball gown for that night out at the sports pub, your 8 pairs of Manolo Blahnik stilettos for the miles and miles of walking you will do in a day, etc. - Make sure ...

Why does my coffee have an oil slick???

... dumped on the table STILL IN THEIR SACHET, which of course necessitated his jug of hot water, and the fresh fruit salad he was expecting was fresh from the tin (including those foul tinned-fruit-glace-cherries). At least his tea was drinkable and didn't have an oil slick skimming across its surface. After leaving the "European Restaurant" we walked the 15 minutes to Niagara Falls and they were spectacular. Took mountains of ...
