The town wanted to build a larger facility but could not get the jays franchise to contribute any money into the project threatening, even at that time to head to Phoenix! and the smaller town was stretched to its limits so could only build the present stadium seating just over 5000 seats...they are sold out most spring training seats ...but in talking to many visitors who can't get ...

Amalie arena is very nice ....holds over 19000 people and we weren't surprised to see a terrific show of red jerseys on the streets prior to game time. Also, we were treated to a performance of an Irish band just outside the doors

Anyway we turned off the expressway onto a very minor road that lead into Tarpon Springs. It turned out to be a beaut little fishing village, and very popular as the place was crowded with tourists/visitors. Over the following week we slept well, ate well, drank well. Lived the American Dream. We spent an afternoon at the beach, white sand, bowls, beers and screwdrivers for Anna. Done the real way with a cool box big enough for Anna to fit into. Despite initial efforts with a coating of sunscreen ready, I did get sun burnt, no surprise there.
