    And So It Begins

A travel blog entry by javastoryteller on Jul 15, 2014

The long series of flights had started. My goal is to not use the cane until Australia at the earliest. However, Sarah says, "you look tired and you will use the cane." I just can't imagine where or when she learned to be so bossy. Just because she doesn't want me broken before the trip has begun? So does that mean I can be broken after the ...

Amazingly, because we are in a canyon, there is no cell service, no tv reception and limited WiFi. We found a Starbucks with WiFi, got connected, made some calls, feel better. Our first stop was a day at the zoo. It's an older one, but they are doing all they can to update it. They have several ...

... we needed to get south and it being a Friday afternoon it appeared as though this was the plan of a significant number of other people - so we experienced the Las Angeles traffic first hand but eventually made it down to San Diego by 21h00. A quick visit to "Flippin Pizza" for some supper (huge Pizza's - one and a quater fed our entire starving 6) and some online shopping for tomorrows tickets and we were in bed fast ...

... to take a photo unfortunately. It was good to be back on a bike again and followed the path for a mile or so.

No need to rush this morning. We returned the bikes, checked out of the hotel and made use of the pool towels for a quick dip. The Portofino was a very plush hotel but disappointing pool-but then we have been to quite a few now and you start to get fussy I suppose. The pool was quite small and went from 3 1/2 foot deep to 7 1/2 deep ...
