Historical Traveler Reviews Hilton Garden Inn New York - Chelsea New York City

      Functional

      from

Clean and decently kept, but nothing particularly special. The location isn't bad, especially if you don't mind walking. The elevators can drive you crazy, as thee are only two and they are used for guests and service personnel. All in all, a perfectly functional business type hotel, with high speed internet, that is good value if you can get a reduced rate.

      Comfy and a good deal

      from

Stayed here for one night over Thanksgiving weekend and got a good deal in part because NYC fills up fast that weekend and this hotel was brand spankin new. The location is perfect if you are going to an event at Madison Square Garden, as I was, or traveling into Manhattan via Penn Station. You are also not that far from Times Square at a much better price. The hotel is located in the middle of a block on a relatively (for New York) quiet street.

Rooms were decent sized for NYC. Beds were super comfy. Of course, any brand new hotel will be pretty clean and in good shape. TV was a little confusing to use however. Good channel lineup though.

I would definitely stay here again!

So far, my favorite NYC Hotel

      from

This hotel is located in a business/residential area of Chelsea. The area isn't swarmed by tourists and is relatively quite and secluded. The hotel personnel were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were well kept and well appointed. I did not have any problems during my stay and would recommend this hotel to others. Rooms are large by NYC standards.

      Tidy and convenient

      from

Very tidy rooms and a reasonable size. Good location with nice foyer. Slowish lifts. Simple exercise room

      Ordentlich und praktisch

      from

Sehr ordentliche und recht große Zimmer. Gute Lage mit einer schönen Eingangshalle. Langsame Aufzüge. Einfacher Fitnessraum.

      Perfect

      from

It was perfect: the room was a decent size, very comfortable beds, clean and modern bathroom, flat screen tv with tons of channels, the staff was incredible, super nice, very helpful, always smiling (Jose at the front desk was especially nice), the breakfast was a knockout (full American breakfast, made to order, great healthy food), great location to get to midtown or downtown/Soho. The elevators were just a little slow (if I HAD to find a negative), but overall really, really great. And reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the city. We had just gotten back from Europe and this hotel beat the pants off all of those and this one was way less expensive. Stop looking for another hotel and book here.

      Perfect

      from

This new hotel is perfect: Great location near the Fashion Institute of Technology, helpful staff, subway on the corner, quiet, sunny, reasonable room size, free wireless internet, super-comfortable beds. There is even an abundance of electric outlets in all the right places. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. Great hotel for the business traveler or for a weekend getaway. This 'Garden Inn' is fittingly located on a side street lined with flower wholesalers. Easy walk to Chelsea, Penn Station and Fifth Avenue shops. Will stay here next time I go to New York. (I'm not submitting photos because the rooms look EXACTLY like they do on the hotel website)

      Perfekt

      from

      Good Hotel, Bad double charging

      from

Stayed here on the second night after it opened.

As you'd expect the hotel was in good condition. The staff were friendly and helpful but still finding their feet.

The rooms were a reasonable size for new york and were nicely laid out.

Comfy beds but noisy aircon unit.

There is no safe in the room which is a bit of a hassle as you have to use a deposit box at reception which is a pain.

All in all i was happy with the hotel and my 2 night stay until i found out i was charged twice. Once when i prepaid on Hilton.com and then again by the Hotel itself.

When i rang to have this rectified the Hotel first tried to tell me i'd spent over $900 bucks on incidentals which was laughable. When they eventually admitted there error i requested they reverse the transaction instead of refund as otherwise the currency flucuations wouls leave me out of pocket.

As you can guess they refunded ignoring my request and cost me an additional €40 which i now have to chase Visa for.

So Hotel good Staff friendly but incompetent....

      Brand New and Beautiful

      from

Brand New hotel. I wasn't expecting it to be new as I did not make my booking. It was a great suprise to learn when I checked in that it was only their first week open. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfect. They have great Flat /HD TV's and lots of channels.

I had breakfast in the morning, although not included in the rate it was worth the $15 or so dollars for it. The chef was happy and fast in our orders and the amount of options were well worth it.

I will definitely be staying again.

... was 2am in the morning and the restaurant was in full swing, it blew my mind the city really doesn't sleep!! After that the rest of the girls were ready to call it a night so I had to wonder up the street to get a cab, I got the subway into the city but 3:30 in the morning I wasn't getting it back but surprisingly it's hard to get a cab at that hour of the day but luckily I managed to find one thank god!! So by the ...

... that Mole is not our thing. Gentleman Farmer gave us incredible produce but in hit and miss combinations. Incredible and traditional Persian at Parmys. Old school Diner lunch at Lexington Candy Store. More great handpulled noodles and dumplings... We even found Banh Mi at An Choi's - which just made us realise how much this holiday has made us appreciate the Vietnamese and Thai options at home.

We were meeting a few people he knew at an Italian restaurant about 35 blocks away. Stupidly, we thought we would be able to walk it and make it on time... we didn't make good decisions this trip... On the way there we stopped ...

      ... not a great selection.

Onto Tiffanys. Great service from the staff. Then again, if they are going to surgically remove your arms through your wallet, they should be pleasant.

We bought Jenny a necklace. It is a very nice piece.

Hoofed it back to the hotel. No luck with big game hunting but got some other random shots.

... next day, got ready for the pub crawl tonight. I then left the hotel after i was ready to go out. I walked up 42nd street to the park next to the library, found the subway here and caught the subway down to the village. When i got out it was raining again, lucky i had my rain jacket so i was fine. I first found the pub crawl start point and then went looking for a place to have dinner. The rain got heavier so i went into the ...
