Off to a great start in NYC

A travel blog entry by brownsinrsa

We are having so much fun it has been hard to find time to blog.  We had a great time in New York City.  It was great to see Mike and Michelle. On Saturday night they took us out to dinner at Balthazar. After dinner we did some rooftop bar hopping.  Lucky for us, Michelle had been doing research and had a few bars for us to visit.  For a night cap …

Sunday 12 July 2009

Arrived in New York at approximately 5.15PM after being in transit for 25 hours.

Gus, our greek taxi driver, drove us through the NY traffic to our hotel, The Hilton Garden Inn in the Chelsea District on 28th street (btw 6th and 7th Ave), from JFK airport. Upon arrival at our hotel we were greeted by unfriendly …

Palin has said for some years now that sudden relentless reform could only occur with both a spiritual revival and a political reawakening. Historical Traveler Reviews Hilton Garden Inn New York - Chelsea New York City

    Functional

    from

Clean and decently kept, but nothing particularly special. The location isn't bad, especially if you don't mind walking. The elevators can drive you crazy, as thee are only two and they are used for guests and service personnel. All in all, a perfectly functional business type hotel, with high speed internet, that is good value if you can get a reduced rate.

    Comfy and a good deal

    from

Stayed here for one night over Thanksgiving weekend and got a good deal in part because NYC fills up fast that weekend and this hotel was brand spankin new. The location is perfect if you are going to an event at Madison Square Garden, as I was, or traveling into Manhattan via Penn Station. You are also not that far from Times Square at a much better price. The hotel is located in the middle of a block on a relatively (for New York) quiet street.

Rooms were decent sized for NYC. Beds were super comfy. Of course, any brand new hotel will be pretty clean and in good shape. TV was a little confusing to use however. Good channel lineup though.

I would definitely stay here again!

So far, my favorite NYC Hotel

    from

This hotel is located in a business/residential area of Chelsea. The area isn't swarmed by tourists and is relatively quite and secluded. The hotel personnel were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were well kept and well appointed. I did not have any problems during my stay and would recommend this hotel to others. Rooms are large by NYC standards.

    Tidy and convenient

    from

Very tidy rooms and a reasonable size. Good location with nice foyer. Slowish lifts. Simple exercise room

    Ordentlich und praktisch

    from

Sehr ordentliche und recht große Zimmer. Gute Lage mit einer schönen Eingangshalle. Langsame Aufzüge. Einfacher Fitnessraum.

    Perfect

    from

It was perfect: the room was a decent size, very comfortable beds, clean and modern bathroom, flat screen tv with tons of channels, the staff was incredible, super nice, very helpful, always smiling (Jose at the front desk was especially nice), the breakfast was a knockout (full American breakfast, made to order, great healthy food), great location to get to midtown or downtown/Soho. The elevators were just a little slow (if I HAD to find a negative), but overall really, really great. And reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the city. We had just gotten back from Europe and this hotel beat the pants off all of those and this one was way less expensive. Stop looking for another hotel and book here.

    Perfect

    from

This new hotel is perfect: Great location near the Fashion Institute of Technology, helpful staff, subway on the corner, quiet, sunny, reasonable room size, free wireless internet, super-comfortable beds. There is even an abundance of electric outlets in all the right places. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. Great hotel for the business traveler or for a weekend getaway. This 'Garden Inn' is fittingly located on a side street lined with flower wholesalers. Easy walk to Chelsea, Penn Station and Fifth Avenue shops. Will stay here next time I go to New York. (I'm not submitting photos because the rooms look EXACTLY like they do on the hotel website)

    Perfekt

    from

    Good Hotel, Bad double charging

    from

Stayed here on the second night after it opened.

    Brand New and Beautiful

    from

Brand New hotel. I wasn't expecting it to be new as I did not make my booking. It was a great suprise to learn when I checked in that it was only their first week open. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfect. They have great Flat /HD TV's and lots of channels.

I had breakfast in the morning, although not included in the rate it was worth the $15 or so dollars for it. The chef was happy and fast in our orders and the amount of options were well worth it.

I will definitely be staying again.
