Historical Traveler Reviews Hilton Garden Inn New York - Chelsea New York City

Clean and decently kept, but nothing particularly special. The location isn't bad, especially if you don't mind walking. The elevators can drive you crazy, as thee are only two and they are used for guests and service personnel. All in all, a perfectly functional business type hotel, with high speed internet, that is good value if you can get a reduced rate.

    Comfy and a good deal

Stayed here for one night over Thanksgiving weekend and got a good deal in part because NYC fills up fast that weekend and this hotel was brand spankin new. The location is perfect if you are going to an event at Madison Square Garden, as I was, or traveling into Manhattan via Penn Station. You are also not that far from Times Square at a much better price. The hotel is located in the middle of a block on a relatively (for New York) quiet street.

Rooms were decent sized for NYC. Beds were super comfy. Of course, any brand new hotel will be pretty clean and in good shape. TV was a little confusing to use however. Good channel lineup though.

I would definitely stay here again!

So far, my favorite NYC Hotel

This hotel is located in a business/residential area of Chelsea. The area isn't swarmed by tourists and is relatively quite and secluded. The hotel personnel were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were well kept and well appointed. I did not have any problems during my stay and would recommend this hotel to others. Rooms are large by NYC standards.

    Tidy and convenient

Very tidy rooms and a reasonable size. Good location with nice foyer. Slowish lifts. Simple exercise room

    Ordentlich und praktisch

Sehr ordentliche und recht große Zimmer. Gute Lage mit einer schönen Eingangshalle. Langsame Aufzüge. Einfacher Fitnessraum.

It was perfect: the room was a decent size, very comfortable beds, clean and modern bathroom, flat screen tv with tons of channels, the staff was incredible, super nice, very helpful, always smiling (Jose at the front desk was especially nice), the breakfast was a knockout (full American breakfast, made to order, great healthy food), great location to get to midtown or downtown/Soho. The elevators were just a little slow (if I HAD to find a negative), but overall really, really great. And reasonably priced compared to other hotels in the city. We had just gotten back from Europe and this hotel beat the pants off all of those and this one was way less expensive. Stop looking for another hotel and book here.

This new hotel is perfect: Great location near the Fashion Institute of Technology, helpful staff, subway on the corner, quiet, sunny, reasonable room size, free wireless internet, super-comfortable beds. There is even an abundance of electric outlets in all the right places. I have absolutely nothing negative to say. Great hotel for the business traveler or for a weekend getaway. This 'Garden Inn' is fittingly located on a side street lined with flower wholesalers. Easy walk to Chelsea, Penn Station and Fifth Avenue shops. Will stay here next time I go to New York. (I'm not submitting photos because the rooms look EXACTLY like they do on the hotel website)

    Good Hotel, Bad double charging

Stayed here on the second night after it opened.

As you'd expect the hotel was in good condition. The staff were friendly and helpful but still finding their feet.

The rooms were a reasonable size for new york and were nicely laid out.

Comfy beds but noisy aircon unit.

There is no safe in the room which is a bit of a hassle as you have to use a deposit box at reception which is a pain.

All in all i was happy with the hotel and my 2 night stay until i found out i was charged twice. Once when i prepaid on Hilton.com and then again by the Hotel itself.

When i rang to have this rectified the Hotel first tried to tell me i'd spent over $900 bucks on incidentals which was laughable. When they eventually admitted there error i requested they reverse the transaction instead of refund as otherwise the currency flucuations wouls leave me out of pocket.

As you can guess they refunded ignoring my request and cost me an additional €40 which i now have to chase Visa for.

So Hotel good Staff friendly but incompetent....

    Brand New and Beautiful

Brand New hotel. I wasn't expecting it to be new as I did not make my booking. It was a great suprise to learn when I checked in that it was only their first week open. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfect. They have great Flat /HD TV's and lots of channels.

I had breakfast in the morning, although not included in the rate it was worth the $15 or so dollars for it. The chef was happy and fast in our orders and the amount of options were well worth it.

I will definitely be staying again.

Another ultimate tourist thing to do was watch a game of baseball at the New York Yankees stadium, which we did. We managed to pick up cheap tickets on Groupon and enjoyed a 3 hour session of baseball. The stadium was massive and they did a good job of keeping the crowd lively ...

... in timing was 3 hrs between the west and the east.

Reached the cold and snowing city early and took Super Shuttle which I googled up to get us to downtown Manhattan. It was a sharing service where the bus will pick up a few passengers and drop us one by one to the doorstep. Yes it takes a while and I was super surprised that it is a city of traffic just like Jakarta. Of course better. Third stop was ours, Le Parker Meridien, the hotel we were staying ...

... S1..That’s bad because that is the sciatic area & that’s one nasty little *******. The worst part of it is that I turned out to be allergic to every pain killer/anti-inflammatory they gave me. 3 years later, after daily physio, hydro & other out-patient rehab, I was able to stand up straight again without walking sticks, without the aid of drugs or surgery. So I took myself to NYC (OK with a psycho) as my reward for all the work I had ...

By this time it was rush hour and we had to cross four lanes of traffic just to get on to fifth avenue. By then we were past caring and just at back and let him weave in and out of the traffic. Thankfully we are still here to tell the tale! Niagara tomorrow.5:30am ...

... ourselves. The restaurant was amazing and came complete with a live band playing whilst we ate. Order of the day was fried chicken, being a Harlem special, which came in a number of different guises. Thomas had a fried chicken tender sandwich, with a side of Stout, whilst I plumped for the fried chicken on the bone and mashed potatoes. Whilst we’ve been out here Thomas has banned himself from drinking Guinness and instead has been ...
