    Day 19 - Death Valley

A travel blog entry by samfader on Sep 19, 2014

Yosemite - Death Valley was the plan for today, sleeping in our car before exploring the national park further before driving onto Vegas tomorrow. Then we discovered that the overnight temp in Death Valley floats around 24 degrees, and we decided hell no. Left Yosemite after a night without snoring and without squirrels, FINALLY. Although we did discover sap had dripped all over the Rav, and was stuck all over the bottom of our shoes too. Going to be fun to clean. 6ish hour drive before ...

... smoke from the fire in the Valles Caldera as we flew in.

We had to wait until around 3 pm to catch the shuttle over to the Railrunner so we sat in the cool of the baggage area and used our time wisely to catch up on some of our stories as well as do what I do best, watch people!

The train ride was nice as usual and as we were heading into Santa Fe could see an immense smoke cloud right above the ski area it appeared. It was quite disturbing to see.

... was so nice to get us a car to use and we were able to go to the Muir Redwood Forest. The roads getting there were very windey and close to the edge, but the forest was awesome. Hadley always wanted to see Redwoods, so it was so nice to be able to take her. We hiked for 4 hours. I had bought really professional hiking boots for all of us to do professional hiking, and we were styling with our socks!
