The start of our trip.
Departure from Huntsville toward Chicago. Got an all day lay over in Chicago because there is only one flght to Chicago from Huntsville.
All went well other than the American Airlines agent had to physically complete the baggage connection between Paris and Malta. This meant that he had to hand write the ultimate destination. I don' think he has ever heard of Malta.
Onward and ...
Up even earlier today - the pain!! Had done most of our packing beforehand but Jordan had one of his infamously well timed blood noses which gave us a minor-ish delay. Breakfast good ol' vegemite biscuits slash scones. We had our final information overload of Space history (today was about the shuttle program) & then got to see how much of this info we'd retained with a Jeopardy type game called 'Space Bowl' ...
... bored so decided to do his own kind of unprotected spacewalk. Speaking of unprotected, Jordan was looking at a big map of the US & mispronounced Virginia... After an early dinner we found our rocket launch was cancelled due to a storm coming in so we partied on aka history lesson about Gemini & Apollo missions & then Commercial Space travel. Massive day, we're tired - not sure how the kids are keeping it together. Anyway a sneaky drink before bed & onto graduation ...
... been before dinner?! Then did our first mission with the Space Shuttle Endeavour. Thought I was going to be leaving Space camp on my own as we were starting re-entry while Jase & Jordan were still hanging outside on a space walk. NASA will not be hiring any of us any time soon. The big kids & little kids looked exhausted so it was showers & bedtime by 9:30pm - us astronauts are mega party ...
... in Cornersville, TN. There were mostly Seniors there, but we enjoyed dancing with them and watching them line dance.
Galen and John enjoyed a day of golf at Huntsville, AL while Dena and I toured the mansion that was built by Barbara Mandrell and her husband (Fontanel). This home is amazing and they allowed you to touch and take pictures with jackets, etc that they had on display. This was one of Barbara's request when she sold it to the new owners that ...
