... Houston is very bad on Saturday. I’d hate to see it during the week. Well, the Galleria Mall parking is all in parking decks with a maximum height of 8’6". We’re too big so we just got back on I-610 and came home. I guess people only drive their cars to the Galleria. Jim did a great job driving, but I was having a nervous breakdown. I just couldn’t live in a city this big with this much traffic. ...

Threat of rain today. Do I sound like a broken record? Gray clouds, but warm temperatures.
Luckily we’ll be inside most of the day.

This morning we braved the post-rush hour traffic to drive to the Johnson Space Center (JSC). We’re really looking forward to seeing it since we’ve also been to Cape Canaveral. Just getting into the center was slow. Once we got off the ...

... certainly not in California where I learned American history!

Apparently Acadian culture had diverged enough from French culture over the century and a half that the Acadians lived in what is now Canada that they could not fit in and many headed back to the US, this time to Louisiana, which was a French territory. There, they settled and became what we now call Cajuns. The displays do not explain explicitly, but I ...

... the Gulf of Mexico and it had some theme park rides which were really cheap - good incentive!
Having found a place to park we headed to the Boardwalk area and you should have seen the kids disgust when they saw the rides. Comments like 'they're not even scary', 'it's so slow!' etc kept us rather amused. The 'giant drop' ride which is like 'The Freefall' at Adventure World was 'tiny', 'not even half the size of our one!'. Imagine that - in Texas ...
