Today we got up at 6am as we'd planned to go to Sleepy Hollow, though were a bit dubious as some storms had been forecasted (NY is currently being graced by the tail end of Hurricane Debby which is bashing Florida). However, the news this morning said that it would be worse away from the area we were hoping to visit, so we decided to risk it. We walked from the hotel to North Elizabeth train station through a neighbourhood with loads of Jewish cemeteries ...
... at this time and luckily there is a little map kiosk. I get my bag in there and climb up onto the little shelf thing and sit out the 20 min or so downpour. Then I set off into the dripping vegetation. That's the funny thing about the forest. It sort of evens out the rain. If it's coming down really heavily, the trees keep it steady. But once it stops, the trees keep on dripping steadily!
