... back home to Iowa to live with my parents. (Every parent's dream is to have their 23 year old son move back in right?) But before you judge me too harshly, I had a plan. Well, "plan" might be giving it too much credit. Some might call it an unorganized jumble of half-thought-out ideas, but I'll stick with calling it a plan.
Three big things came out of my time out East:
1) That I stunk at trying to control my entire life on my own, and it was ...
... highways. No such luck. Next stop was Guttenberg which turns out to be quite a little tourist town on the river at a lock. Found a quaint motel in an old list building right on the river. Reasonably priced room, even free wifi.

Today was really special. A baseball team called the Ghosts, walked out of the corn and played baseball in the field dressed in 1920s White Sox uniforms I think. It was a scene right out of the movie and there were several hundred people there to enjoy it.
We dropped down under the clouds and into the turbulence, but Alex was fine with that. The reason we'd come down early was to look for the location where the movie Field of Dreams was shot. We found it, in part because if you look very closely on the FAA's Sectional chart, "Field of Dreams" is actually marked! We orbited the field once, dashed into Dubuque to pick up a rental car, then headed right back to the ball field.
