    ... that elk were 'wild and unpredictable' so I was a bit scared that one was going to charge the car. We snapped a few pictures and headed on.

    The farthest south we got was the Lady Bird Johnson Grove. We made it to the plaque that marked the dedication of the forest. It is hard to believe that people had to fight to protect these trees at one point.

    Kate and Nate have been here for the weekend -- Kate decided to do some impromptu bridal gown shopping -- so we're going to have to really ramp up our packing efforts today before we get one more good night's sleep here at home. While away, Charlie and Onnie will be vacationing at the schnauzer farm and Ashley will be housesitting for us.
