    ... a taxi , that didn't work eventually we gave up and borrowed a phone from the gift store .     ... width, and lack of the comfortable headrest experienced in a usual arm chair - but the leg room was magnificent. Back across the road, I enter a small bookshop featuring various series of books - Harry Potter being prominent - as well as books of spells, dragon anthologies, trivia, other writings of JK Rowling and the list goes on. Back across to a candy shop of sorts where one is able to indulge in special sodas, jelly beans, candy bars and other delights... a diabetic coma waiting to happen.     ... It was a bit expensive at US$70.00 given all we had was the pasta, pizza and a glass of wine each. A bit different to Thailand prices.

    The weather was pretty hot today. I think it was about 32 degrees.

    We spent some time with Tom when we returned and had a nice bottle of Robert Mondavi red wine that we had picked up at a supermarket. We finally got into bed at about 11.00pm

    Similar to the lodge we stayed at while in Monterey, this Best Wester offers free continental breakfast; again lots of white bread and jam, but surprisingly good bagels and a bonafide pancake machine (!) – just push the button and out comes a pancake. After breakfast we get in the car and set our sights on Farmers’ Market.
