... br> Only a hour from JFK , so not so far after the flight and picking up the hire car but at least its out of New York and on the way. We have reservations at Days Inn Bridgewater ,maybe not the most salubrious accommodation in the world but hey ho.Had dinner at a near by diner then to bed at 2230 but this was really 0430 Norwegian time so a bit knackered.

... was mostly sunny when I went in, but by the time I came out about two hours later, it was overcast and drizzly ... as you can 'see' from my photo of Lady Liberty ...
In fact, every time I have been to NYC the Statue has been obscured ... the first time, by brown haze from large bushfires upriver, the second by intermittent rain ... and the third by, well, intermittent drizzle. Bugger.
Oh well, maybe another day <sigh> or not.
... Ferry Terminal. This Ferry service is free and takes about 20 minutes or so over to Staten Island. We got to see the Statue of Liberty really well as we passed by it and even with all the people on the boat we could still get photos! ... RV and Marina to check in for 2 nights. It was $58 per night to park and sleep in our van in there dry section ( meaning no power or hydro ). We were very pleased to be finally somewhere to park the car up and have a well needed shower!! We went to the surf club, right by the RV park for dinner as a huge thunder and lighting storm started.
