    Enjoying Oshkosh

    ... Each afternoon's air show featured an array of planes from the slow to the very fast and the relatively quiet to the ear-shattering loud, all very impressive and enjoyed (?) by all of the expected 500,000 attendees and visitors! Two evenings during the week, the night air show wowed the spectators, with displays by aircraft (including a glider and personal jet) illuminated with a multitude of lights and pyrotechnics, followed by a dazzling firework display.

  • Both ferries require that Rosie stay in a Kennel on the car deck or in our car WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED.
  • WE'RE NOT ALLOWED ACCESS TO HER DURING THE TRIP

  • Thinking of other options. We really don't want to drive south (past Chicago) as it's boring, but the trip north (across the Mackinac bridge (back-tracking our arrival) is quite a bit longer but much more pleasant of a drive.

    There are nearly as many aircraft at the EAA Airventure at the same time as there are in the whole of Australia! They come in all shapes and sizes - from microlights to an Airbus A350 and a B52 bomber. Lots of people fly in and camp with their planes. We parked in Camp Scholler, a massive camping area, nearly full, with reportedly up to 30,000 RVs plus tents.

    ... Spent some time at the Vendor Boots to see what was new ' updated my Databases for an Oshkosh special Price and purchased some other small Items. Removed the extra RH Seat Tank Greg had offered me to bring to Florida at a later date.... Thank you Greg We all enjoyed the traditional Oshkosh Barbecue For which the Down's are famous for..... Weather co-operated nicely...... Getting in and out to the show is a Challenge with 700000 ...

    The big day! We needed to clear customs/immigration into the USA. Our first flight took all of six minutes from one side of the river to the other. Sanderson is a small port of entry but busy at this time of year with mainly Canadians heading to the show. Formalities completed and we were on our way again in an hour.
