After staying up way past sensible hours the next morning we surfaced at 8am with the alarm clock blaring and made our way downstairs for breakfast. I should mention that by this stage we had realised the hotel was purpose built for conferences and the restaurant at this hour was empty, with the rest of the guests tucked away in various conference rooms.

... the last day we listened to someone called Lauren Manning talk about her brush with death as she survived the 911 attacks in 2001. She spoke of unmeasured strength and deciding to carry on when faced with adversity. She praised the nursing profession for the way in which we care for our patients and the hope we store in them each day. She was amazing. I'm off to Houston today, and then LA on the 14th. ... the little historian in me! I'm on the 26th floor of the hotel and the view is incredible! My colleagues are here and attending the conference too, not entirely sure I will want to leave them and carry on with my adventure come Saturday, I'm really on my own then! Spoke to some more hospitals re: visits. Bring on the research! And to any of them that hasn't replied to my emails, watch out imma hunt you down at Magnet!! ...

For this trip, I couldn't take off early from work, PTO was denied because we had to see patients in the afternoon, so we left right after my shift.
