... like jumping into a cold pool I don't think it will take me long to get "warmed up" again.

In case you're wondering what the phrase in my URL is, it comes from this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsXknE8L OEI

The meaning of the phrase is almost impossible to translate. But it kinda means "it's going good for me". That's the best way I can put it.

So, until January I'll just have to say à bientôt!

Eugene, Oregon, United States vino_voyageursI went back up to Eugene, picked up Katie and we drove back to Idaho. On the way there we camped in the Cascades at the Metoleous River. The photos don't really show how incredible this is, at the mouth of the Metoleous the water comes out of the side of the mountain. Turn around and it's a full river.

We drove through the Craters of the Moon National Monument, also an incredible area.
Eugene, Oregon, United States sjandbuddyWe left the ranch and came to Eugene OR a city I lived in back in 1988-90. I came here to participate in a few workshops and visit with good friends. This was the beginning of what I have called my ping-pong ball travels where I went between Eugene and Firth several times. This back and forth could be one of the reasons I was less motivated to ...
Eugene, Oregon, United States sjandbuddy... pot, swap it with the pot that's drying on the stove, so it can get some of it's water out as well. I then mortar the top and bottom lips of the first pot and wait a while for everything to dry. After sufficient time had passed, I blob a bunch more mortar around the lip of the upright pot, and drop the second pot on top of the first. Then I commence in applying a nice thick layer of mortar to the inside and outside of the joint between the two pots. Around the outside, I cut the ...
Eugene, Oregon, United States kirbyWhen we departed from Crater Lake they told us there was a woodfire and the highway we were supposed to take was closed. So we had a little detour ahead of us, namely 3 hours ! Till that time I had not been able to contact Mary in person, so I just left messages on here voicemail. Lucky for us she was still offering a bed, even when we arrived not sooner then 9.10 pm.
Eugene, Oregon, United States topangaTo recapitulate a bit.

Before leaving on a projected two-year experiment in living in Turkey, and all the unknowns of travel and and such, considering my own mortality I felt obligated to a painting that I had begun some 34 years before that rested unfinished.

I was able to "provisionally" finish the painting, and locate a placement for it in a position which I imagined and which I called a "public conservatorship." The ...
Eugene, Oregon, United States oldrover... at the North Valley Friends Church and met the pastor, Stan Thornburg, who has carried a long time concern for the care of Creation. The spirited music that began the service was presented by a small ensemble of church members, including guitars, drums, flute, piano, and vocals. We were impressed with the vitality of the congregation, which included many young families with children. The service included "open" worship, and they also have an early morning unprogrammed worship each ...
Eugene, Oregon, United States peaceforearthEastern Oregon is what you assume all of Oregon to be - forested. For a period, traveling west from Sisters, Oregon, we rode on a highway flush with the forest floor. On either side were Ponderosa pines, masculine in size. They exhibited a reddish-tan bark in large plaques that lit up to the early morning sunshine. The underbrush had been burned (planned or unplanned) so one could see for 100 plus yards before ...
