Historical Traveler Reviews of Hilton Club New York New York City
Great stay

Very nice stay. Great location. The only problem we incurred was there were a few elevators broken down during checkout. The elevator stopped on every floor to pickup more people going to the lobby, but there was no room. I saw people going down the stairs on the 30th floor with their luggage. Get smart people, take the elevator up, then down. Very clean rooms. Upon check-in, we were given one bed, went down and asked for 2 doubles, no problem. Would very much like to get this hotel again.
Problems with Cleanliness of Rooms

Stayed at the New York Hilton a couple of weeks ago on the Executive Level. First room had a dirty tub that contained several hairs. I complained and was moved to a smoking room (I had reservations for a nonsmoking room) and this room stunk of smoke plus the tub had several hairs in it. I complained again and was moved to the third room. Believe it or not, this room had a tub with hairs in it, the sink had a hair in it, the vanity drawer in which the hair dryer lay had dust and hairs in it, the toilet seat was not totally clean, one of the bedspreads had a long black hair on it, the bedspreads looked old, and laying on the floor between the beds I found the stem of a piece of fruit, a sharp pin, and some small papers with handwriting on them. Not to mention that there were serious cracks in the bathroom ceiling and the ceiling light above the bathtub kept blinking on and off even though the switch was turned off. I would not have expected problems with room cleanliness at a hotel like the New York Hilton, and I was very unhappy that I had to resort to complaining to the manager, who was apologetic. Also want to note that the positive side was the nice location, beautiful view, complimentary breakfast, afternoon cookies and evening hors d'eurves in the Executive Lounge.
Nasty, not worth the $$$

Stayed at this Hilton last week for a business trip. The #1 most overwhelming feature of my room was the pink mildew covering the shower head. I actually took a towel and wiped it all off, but I was so disgusted that it looked like they'd never cleaned it. The entire room reeked of mildew and felt kind of damp. Unfortunately, it was an unseasonably cold week in New York, and the Hilton had turned its heat off, so I ended up freezing in my room for 2 nights. The inroom safe was also broken, and they wouldn't fix it. The carpet had a big black piece of gum on it. Of course, I complained to the management about all of the above -- they could only move me to a smoking room or a room right next to the elevator, and when I decided I didn't want either one of those less-appealing options, they shrugged. It's NYC, so of course they were rude and didn't care, but at least comp me a breakfast or something! I won't be staying at the Hilton again.
Consider other options

Stayed there for 3 nights in spring 2003. The rooms are fairly large, with the usual amenities, and the location is great. However, there was a strange mildewy, musty smell in the room due to an undetected pipe leak in the bathroom and moldy shower curtains. The service was curt and impersonal - this hotel is simply too big to value a single customer. Simple things like arranging ground transport took a lot of time and multiple phone calls, and did not work out too well. With so many other great options nearby, I would not stay there again.
Great Choice for a City Stay!

I stayed at the Hilton during the last week of April for a business meeting and was pleasantly suprised by the quality of all the hotel had to offer. For a busy business/convention/tourist hotel,it was in excellent condition, appearing to have been recently renovated. Rooms were large, clean and modernwith all ammenities you would expect. Walking distance to theaters,etc.. I extended my stay on a saturday evening for $ 179. I would stay here againeven for non business purposes.
Can't beat the Hilton

We go to NYC at least 2-3 times a year. We've stayed in all sorts of hotels and by far our favorite one is the Hilton NY on Ave of Americas!Last year, we'd stayed at the Bentley and it was nice but out of the way. It was pouring during our walk and decided to stop in this Hilton to take a break from the rain. While we were here, my hubby really like the lobby and said that we should stay here next time. I told him that it was probably over $200 and close to $300/night and was out of our price range.Well, thank goodness for TravelZoo. I got an email blast listing the specials for the week and this hotel was on it. It was $169/night with full breakfast in their restaurant but you could get an upgrade to the executive floor for $20 more/night. I took the upgrade and had access to the executive lounge, which offered deluxe continental breakfast and cocktail hour hor'derves. We are going back in May but will be booking our room thru HotelKingdom for they can get you a room in the Hilton Club part of the hotel. It will be $150/night for a studio room. Sis and her inlaws went last weekend and stayed in the 2 bedroom suite and his family was amazed!Definitely my choice of hotel, 2 blocks from Times Sq. and close to everything!
Fabulous location

I was skeptical about staying at the Hilton. We got our room on PriceLine for $100.00/night and I expected the worst. I was very pleasantly surprised! It was a fabulous location: walking distance from Times Sq., Rockefeller Center, Central Park, etc. Right on the F train that let us off in the Village at the Blue Note. Great coffee shop across the street for breakfast (Lou's). Room was big and we got 2 queen beds and a view from the 21st floor. Very clean, pleasant. Nothing depressing about it. Lobby is huge and impersonal and the whole hotel feels a bit like Grand Central, but--hey--to stay in a very comfortable, clean hotel with that location is fabulous. The only thing I would complain about (and it wasn't too bad) is that we could hear people in other rooms. The sound really carried, even in the halls. We got lucky and had decent neighbors, but pity someone who gets the senior class on spring break or something. Really recommend it, especially if you can get a deal--and it looks like it caters to "deals." There were lots of groups there. Had wanted the experience of a unique boutique, but read that the quality had slipped in many and they were really expensive. We got a good price for our room and, in retrospect, the room location (given cleaniness and the 2 beds) turned out to be the most important. Concierge and other help was very helpful and gave what turned out to be perfect suggestions for breakfast and lunch. Really had a great time and recommend it!
Solid Hotel

Starting off with the strong points are the location, the lobby was good, check in didn't really take that long considering there was a pretty long line ahead of us. The bed was about as comfortable as a hotel bed I have slept on. Bathroom was nice, no problems there. Plenty of restaurants to choose from and the lobby seemed to have many services available. One thing that I wasn't too crazy about were the elevators we were on the 36th floor and waited for 10-15 minutes for an elevator in the morning. The staff was fine as again I did not have any problems. The fitness room was okay but it would have been better if it had a few more things to offer (ie pool, whirlpool, etc) All in all a good hotel that I wouldn't hesitate to stay at again
Surprising comfort with new upgrade

Just stayed at the Hilton New York (Ave of the Americas @ 53rd st). Haven't been there for about three years, and I was pleasantly surprised! For $189 per night (a bargain in New York!) I got the ... rate and a spacious room with all new furniture, amenities, etc. Very comfortable, and a REAL change from the "plaster box" Hilton of a few years ago. Of course the location can't be beat!
Great place to stay in New York

We enjoyed our weekend stay at the Hilton. The rooms are compact but the recently refurbished interiors feel elegant. We received excellent service and the location is ideal.
