... was also apprehensive about towing our 25' Airstream and all our camping gear up the mountain from Old Fort, NC, to Black Mountain, NC. It is about a seven mile climb and was about all our old tow vehicle (a 2008 Chevy Suburban with a 5.3 liter engine) could handle. Since we had about 95,000 miles on it I thought it a good time for a new tow vehicle. We bought a new (2013) Ford F-150 truck with the "Ecoboost" 6-cylinder ...
... not sold out, so we tried to get it very cheap. In hte end we paid 25$ each. Later we recognized guys standing in front of the stadium 15 minutes before kick-off with 10 or more tickets to sell and thought, we could have gotten cheaper tickets, but it was okay.
We had already lost our frineds in the other car, and we had 4 cards with 2 seat in one section and 2 seats somewhere else. When we ...
... jump. First we did the mega zip, which is a really long ride with that zip line from a 46ft. tower. Then we had to walk all the way back, just the zip line is 1,123foot long and the way is a little longer, to do the mega jump, where you jump off the tower with a controlled free fall. arriving on the floor we got unhooked off the ropes by a guy named Heinz. We had a short talk to him, he is an exchange student ...
... money. Of course my discernment is now screaming, “we ain’t parking here for a 3-hour baseball game, Tex.” So I head back to the RV, which is now roasting inside because my wife is cooking and it’s 100 degrees outside. Long story short, we ate a hurried meal in the Wal Mart parking deck, had to gravel with the team to get us a parking spot for the RV in their “secured lot” and made the game 4 innings late. ...
... crossing without repairing it. So he turned the plane around to return to Charlotte. About 30 minutes later, pilot again came onto intercom and said we couldn't land at CLT with full tank of fuel, so we'd have to circle in holding pattern until burning down enough fuel for safe landing. So we flew around Virginia and North Carolina for another hour or so. We finally landed without incident at CLT at about 9:30 p.m. The decision to repair ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Hilton Charlotte University Place
This hotel is the preferred hotel company of my business unit within the Wachovia Corporation.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Room was large, clean and well equipped. Out back is a lake surrounded by retail stores and a number of restaurants. Only complaint would be that the cable channel selection was very limited. I would stay at this hotel again in a minute when in the charlotte area.
Would Stay Again!
Nice Hotel! Clean and Comfy Bed! Only one suggestion, perhaps the TV should be in front of the bed, not at the side. But overall, great, would stay again.
My wife had a conference at the Hilton. My 6 month old son and I decided to tag along. We were pleasantly surprised. The Hotel has several restaurants within walking distance such as Lava, Billy's Seafood, Cheddars, and many other restaurants. There is an outlet mall 10 min. drive away located off of I85 at exit #49" Concord Mills Mall ". The mall is on your left. It is indoors and has 100's of stores. There is a big Bass Pro Shop connected to the mall. The Hotel is very clean. The rooms are big. They do not have refrigerators in the rooms. The staff are very polite. You can take walks around the lake that is behind the Hotel. They even have a big outdoor play area for children. The Hotel is about 25 min. from the airport.
Excellent location - okay hotel
The location of this hotel is great - the boardwalk provides the opportunity to walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is mediocre at best. The bed in our room was so worn out that my husband woke up with back pain and the shower curtain smelled of mildew after a couple of minutes in the shower. We had also reserved a lake view room, but got a view of the parking lot.
Overall, a great location, the staff was nice enough, but the rooms need to be updated.
Very Nice Hotel!!!
We only stayed one night and recieved a fantastic rate via Priceline. Checking in was quick and easy. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. They offered us either a king or 2 doubles. Our room was very clean and nicely decorated. Fluffy blankets and four feather pillows on each bed. The only thing that I would have liked would have been a refridg/ microwave...but no big deal. There was plenty of parking. We did not use their restaurant but their selection looked good. I would definatly recommend this hotel.
Spend the extra and stay on the executive floor with FREE easy to use wireless, bath robe and bottled water along with the club lounge open from 6:30am - 10:00pm. Nice continental breakfast from 6:30am - 9:00am, Hor d'oeuvres from 5:00pm - 8:00pm and from 8:00pm - 10:00pm cookies. The room was a nice size and the bed was very comfortable, had clean crisp white bedding and lots of big pillows. The towels were all crisp white and the bath towels oversized. A great desk area to work with good lighting and well placed desk top plugs for laptop power cords etc. This is a really nice Hilton and a great value.
Enjoyed my stay
Stayed here 2 nights on a leisure trip. Due to a late flight, did not end up arriving until well after midnight. However I was greeted and told I'd already been checked in and my key was ready...the entire transaction took less than 30 seconds, a nice surprise. Room was clean and adequate. Staff was agreeable. Nothing outstanding about this place, but nothing horrible either...in general a pleasant place to stay. My only complaint would be the quality of the room service food was below average considering the prices and the adjective-laden prose describing it on the menu.
Weather was warm--Hotel staff cold!
So-So service: Got such a great deal on priceline--hate to complain--however . . . just a few items that would have made out stay perfect. Phoned ahead to ask to verify room type but was told that we must wait until we arrived to request bed type and non-smoking--not much left after midnight! Asked housekeeping for extra pillows and towels--never arrived. Called front desk to add credit card so we could order room service--they said they couldn't take info over the phone. Funny though they could take credit card info over the phone if it is to hold a reservation!!! Rooms were small for this grade of hotel. Not many toilety items--no lotion, etc--only shampoo and soap. Good location and plenty of parking.
We just spent 3 nights at this hotel over the Memorial weekend. Check in was very fast and the rooms were very nice. They were large and very clean. The beds were comfortable and we had extra pillows. We did not eat in the dining room so I don't know anything about it. There are several places to eat near the hotel.
