    ... Judy drove me to the airport. No queues (and no upgrade to business - we live in hope!) miles out to gate 58 and guess what - a checkers plane of course. Off we went at 10.00pm. Dinner came and went and my headphones didn't work at all, nor did the two replacement sets, but the Serapax sure did work and about 5 hours went by in a flash. Abu Dhabi airport is gigantic but Kathy and Mal walked out into the arrivals hall about 30 seconds after me. ...

    ... Victor got high tea with scones and different jams and had mezzes ( different hummus, wine leaves) and an Indian chai. We took lots of photos.     ... take our seats. Our guide simulated a take off and crash landing – complete with turbulence, oxygen masks, screaming, explosions, and fire. Even though we all knew it was a simulation, it was surprisingly unsettling. The plane crash-landed nose down, so we had to hike the incline to exit out of the back of the aircraft.
