Arrived in Abu Dhabi after 15 hour flight from Sydney and was greeted by 38 degree heat at midnight (bit of a contrast to the freezing plane). ... the outboard seats are cocooned away from the aisle and are inherently more private. My seat is a window seat, but well away from the window on the aisle. The seat in front of me is right beside the window and the offset clearly allows more people in the cabin. Pretty clever design.
