Walking amongst the stars

Great scrambled egg for breakfast. Wandering around Hollywood a bit, and ended up at the Snow White bar. I had 34 oz of beer and Gill had a very large wine. Watched the world go by before staggering off to hotel for the shuttle back to the airport.

Got the train from San Diego to L.A. Just under 3 hours, very impressed with Amtrak. Why dont we have Double Decker Carriages in the UK?? If we can have bendy buses in London !!!!! Anyway I finally left the grotty weather behind, and when I arrived in L.A it was really warm and sunny weather, much more like it. Booked into the Holiday Inn Hollywood …

Right this is my second attempt at this so here goes: i didn't write yesterday because, well in all honesty, I couln't be bothered. So I'll make up for it today. So yesterday we were still in Vegas. We decided to check out the other hotels at the end of the strip and got the mono rail. It was easier because it was sooo hot and such a long way. In …

Well hello again.  So it's been a weird few days or so in LA. Yesterday we decided to go for a walk up the road in searcoih of a Hollywood sign view point but we went up a hill a little bit, stumbled accross the Hollywood bowl and then decided that we wern't having much luck so went back to the hotel to devise a plan for the day. So on to the bat …

    Great accommodation

I found this hotel to be wonderful in every way. The room is large, with relaxing but comfortable decor, with best of all, free in-room WiFi. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They provide an all-you-can-eat breakfast for $11.95 (plus taxes - why do Americans add it after?) One of the big attractions for me is that it's located right next door to a railway station from where you can catch a train to the beach in one direction, or downtown LA (Hollywood) in the other direction. There's a machine dispensing tickets which makes it super easy. A great way to get around town if you don't have a car. I would highly recommend this Hotel, especially for the discounted room rate that I was able to get. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Just around the corner from hollywood walk of fame just right

    from anonymous

Great place to stop! Staff are really helpful. And great to watch the laker game with lol.

Clean rooms. down stairs pay phones/internet computers. lovely dinning room lovely food.

And all around from hollywood so good.

Hotel staff are good to help you book Taxi's to take you any where you would like even tours around the hill's.

    Not Bad

    from anonymous

Stayed 2 nights. Quite a pleasant hotel. Rooms clean and attractive. Close to Hollywood Blvd. Staff very friendly but seemed to have trouble locating paperwork etc. for tours and wasted quite a lot of our time.

Used shuttle to Universal studios but got a taxi back as the 6.30 trip was full and would have had to wait another hour.

One bad point was that the lift smelt of stale food odour from the kitchen.

We had the hotel limosine take us to the airport for $50. Much quicker and more luxurios than the Supershuttle for not much dearer.

    Worst Hotel in the State

    from anonymous

I was very dissapointed with this hotel. I have paid for several hotels through Hotwire and this was the worst! I requested a non-smoking room and was given a smoking room that was terrible. The room was dirty, had several different types of smells and was very loud. The hallways were dirty, the elevator sounded like it was going to break and the lobby smelled of foul fish from their buffet. I complained to the manager, but he said he would do nothing because I paid through HOTWIRE. He said I had to take whatever room they wanted to give me. I would never stay there again.

    A little too run down

    from SeattleCheesehead

For a 3-star hotel, I found the Holiday Inn Hollywood lacking. Although clean, the fabric, furniture and fixtures were very run down. It didn't help that there was a busload of teenagers arriving at the hotel at the same time. There were always long waits at the elevator and if you wanted to use the stairs you needed to go outside the building and around to the side exterior. Very strange. On the plus side, the location was good (easy access to subway) and the staff was pleasant.

    Good for first timers

    from Antonia_7

This was our first time to LA and we were very happy with the hotel.

The staff were friendly, the rooms sizeable and clean, the shuttle useful, and the location almost ideal. Our only problems: toilet became blocked but was fixed promptly, we had the notion from some web sites that the shuttle went anywhere within a 2 mile radius of the hotel, but it only goes to and from Universal, breakfast was tasty and filling but somewhat expensive at $8.95 plus tax for hot buffet. THe location was a 5 minute walk from the walk of Fame and appeared safe until 9ish, taxi from walk of fame to the hotel cost $5. The Roosevelt was closer to the main sites, but this would only bother the very lazy, and the rooms at the Holiday Inn were very good. Overall, a perfect choice for first timers, with a wide rabge of tours leaving directly from the hotel lobby for up to around $66 for a full day.

Good- But wouldn't pay full price

    from anonymous

I paid about $79 including tax etc. About 1/2 mile from main attractions, clean, nice people, free shuttle to universal and city walk. They do not offer shuttles to any airports, only super shuttle etc, which was about $40.00 not including tips. Older building but in good repair. They serve breakfast and dinner but not lunch. Room service until 10 PM. The area was a little suspect but felt safe enough. Comfort suites was up the road a bit.

    Loved it!

    from anonymous

We planned a quick weekend trip to visit Universal Studios and ended up staying at The holiday Inn, Walk of Fame. We loved it. It was very crowded the weekend we stayed, but you'd never know it from the inside of the room. I never even knew we had neighbors. The staff was VERY friendly and extremely helpful. The diner downstairs was very pleasant as well. The best feature is the proximity to Hollywood itself, walking distance to the Walk of Fame along well lit sidewalks. Centrally located near the famous Graumans Chinee & Kodak Theatres. Loved the Location!

    Alright Hotel!

    from davsyd

We stayed here during Oct 03. When we arrived close to midnight from a flight from NYC we checked in and must of been given the worst room in the place. It was at the end of the corridor and wasn't your normal hotel room shape, it was dark and we had a nice view of the carpark.

When we booked we asked for a non smoking room and the guy on reception gave us a smoking room, and boy could you smell the smoke. We stayed the night in that room and in the morning asked to be changed. And What A Difference!! The room overlooked the street and it was light and was non-smoking. They have a nice and cheap buffet breakfast. For the price it is a good hotel. The walk to Hollywood Blvd I found quite annoying, it was a longer walk then I thought, especially walking back to the hotel, as the street is on a slope. I would stay here again but not if The Reinansance Hotel was the same price or slightly more expensive.

The Reinansance is 'THE' hotel in Hollywood.

    A nice place

    from anonymous

The hotel is three blocks north of Hollywood and Highland, the center of Hollywood boulevard. It is also just south of the Hollywood Hills.

The staff was polite and quick to help me. The walk from the hotel to the boulevard is a smooth one and there are grocery stores, fast food places before you reach the boulevard. There is also a nice pool and jacuzzi for guests. I enjoyed it and may stay there again next time.

    Perfect Location, excellent service!

    from anonymous

We stayed at the Hollywood Walk of fame Holiday Inn hotel, and was impressed from the moment we arrived. We arrived by train from LAX airport to station Hollywood/Highland. The hotel was only a short walk from this station. Our room had a King size bed and was comfortable and very clean. The service at the main desk was exceptional, and a shuttle was provided to Universal Studios and other close destinations. The resturant in the hotel was buffet style, and was very good. The location of this hotel is really just a short walk to Hollywood Blvd and close to public transport. I definately recommend this hotel, our stay was very enjoyable. If we ever go to LA again we will definately stay here. Thanks!!!
