... has been absolutely spectacular. Last time I was here I remember having to stop at LLBean to buy a t-shirt, because even though it was early November it was sunny and in the 70s and I was not prepared. This visit was almost as nice, just a little bit cooler, but sunny and gorgeous. I think Portland likes me and wants to show off.

We stopped to stretch our legs at Kent Falls State Park http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_Falls _State_Park . As we climbed up the path I noticed a couple in tux and wedding gown, posing with the Falls in the background. But...no photographer? Camera, check. Tripod, check. ...
... br> Me: "Yes, I'm traveling to a malaria zone in Africa."
Them: "We don't cover malaria pills for use out of our service area."
Me: "So let me get this straight. If I get malaria you will pay thousands of dollars to treat me but you won't pay anything to prevent me from getting malaria."
Them: "That is correct."

Fun day! LaureAnn and I drove over to Salem, Massachusetts for all things witchy! What a beautiful day. the drive was wonderful - lots of great conversation, story swapping, beautiful scenery, and then Salem itself.
We walked around, visited a couple of the sites, one being the only structure left from the witch trial period. That is the home of Judge Corwin.

On Oct. 3rd I left Montreal via Amtrak and traveled down to Poughkeepsie, New York. Pleasant journey! We had a special treat in that an observation car was added to the train. Once we got past customs at the border I went up there and I'm so glad I did. Here we were riding along side Lake ...
