A good choice for it's price range

We stayed here last weekend and found it exactly what we needed. We arrived at noon, and were given keys to our room right away. Front desk staff were very courteous and pleasant. When we mentioned that the room had not been made up, (should we leave our bags there, etc..) they quickly moved us to another room, on the front with a river view. It was clean and comfortable, although ceratinly not luxurious. All in all, it was exactly what we expected, maybe a little better. A short ten minute riverfront walk to the heart of the city is a small price to pay for the difference in price, I think. Some friends of ours were staying at the Westbury, on Grafton Street, which is MUCH nicer, but also three times the money. Ahh, expenses accounts must be nice! As for the dining room, I have no idea. Who would eat at their hotel in a city like Dublin two nights in a row, especially after the first night was not good. (See entries below) Try the Harbor Master, only 3 minutes away, for good pub grub, or nicer in their restaurant. Being in the Financial District, it isn't crowded on weekends until about 9pm.

Previous Harsh Reviews not quite true

Charming staff greeted us upon arrival and we were offered the choice of smoking or non smoking room. The room was huge as we had a corner location with a fantastic view of the Liffey. Location is great for the active, however not ideal if you have children as the roads close by are very busy, some noise during the evening! That said this hotel is ideal for a couple of days and provides a great base to explore the city and near by towns (Connelly Station just round the corner 5 mins walk, visit Howth Bay and the seals). As for food, who would eat dinner in the hotel with a choice of restaurants so vast just 10 min walk down the road, so cant comment!

Called ahead fr erarly arrival-was told no problem; got there at 9 AM and was riold 2 PM check-in-no exceptions. Great attera 7 hour fligjht! Rooms were vert small; restaurant was horrid-about $15 for a hamburger with ni sides! Staff at check-in was rud. Ice machines did no work. Getting a bus was a ten minute walk; berain station was a $15 ride. Windows were drafty. I normally stay at Jursy's in Europe-all have been ice-this one is to be avoided at all costs,

          Avoid like the plague

Arrived at 10 AM and was told we could not check in till 2 despite call ahead and being td we could check in-no rooms till 2; no exceptionswas the policy. Great after a transatlntic flight. Location is por; most used railroad station requires a 7 Euro cab ride thru horrid traffic.

Room was jus ok ith windowsthat do not open all the way; ice machine was broke on every floor. In Irelan you don't expect great ood; this place was horrid. Ordered hamburger that was wierd tasting ands it was 11 Euros not counting drink. Next day tried fish nd chips-no one can ruin that I thought. Wrong! Worse tha hamburger. ime to get served was very long despite almost no one in restaurant Desk staff wer as helpful as screen doors on asubmarine. I stay at Jury's Inns goodbit; like them all, but this place was horrid and at that price of 150 Euros a nite has to be scam of the year.

          Watch the phone!!

Stayed at Jury's Inn Custom House for a few days. Price is the best redeeming factor. Please be careful if using the telephone. We bought a 10 euro phone card and it cost us 42 euro to use it to make calls. At the hotel, we were charged 2 euro for each "attempted" call, whether it went through or not! No notice at all! Not a very attentive staff.

Loved Dublin and Jury Custom House Inn

Spent several days in Dublin with my husband, sister, and college-aged son: We loved it! A walkable city with something for everyone! The Jury Custom House Inn was a great place to stay! We walked to the Abbey Theatre (about 10 min.) for an evening performance; the walk to the center of the city was about 15-20 minutes. The hotel was clean; the staff very friendly and helpful! My only complaint was that there was an "ironing room" on the 4th floor: 1 iron for the entire hotel...but I never had a problem using it when I needed to...guess we're spoiled in the US w/irons in the room! Would definitely stay again!

Jurys Custom House Inn: Hotel nearly OK, location not

The hotel is OK, but its location is not. 1) The nearest bus stop is nearly a 10 minutes walk away. 2) The view from the front side rooms is very nice, overlooking the Liffy River, but there is a very busy street between the hotel and the river: the main route to and from the harbor, with very, very heavy traffic all day (and most of the night). If you open the window, you can't even hear the sound from the TV set.PS If you go there, be sure to reserve a room for non-smokers, if you want one. We had reserved a room for 4 + 2 nights. We stayed for 4 nights on a non-smoking floor, then went to Galway for one night, and when we came back at 10 o'clock the following evening, they only had rooms on the floor for smokers left! -Perhaps they assumed we had started to smoke during the 38 hours we were away? If I go back to Dublin, I will select another hotel.

          My stay was just fine

Service was great. Room was huge for the price. Well furnished, clean, and no holes in the towels or bedding as others have apparently experienced. New furniture. Hallways were fine. The bathroom was nice. Lighting in the room could be better. The lobby and lifts were nice, and the people at the reception desk were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The area is safe and the hotel is within walking distance to O'Connell Street. Overall, a great value and a great experience.

          Jurys Custom House

Mediocre. Has potential to be a great hotel, but isn't. The entrance is an impressive feature. For families - need some rooms with 2 double beds instead of 1 double/1 futon type low to the ground metal double bed (not overly comfortable). Room could be cleaner, bedding stained & cover torn. Breakfast was not included with room, but was ok. I think we'll look for another hotel next time we visit Dublin.

          Good Deal

If you enjoy walking this is the place to stay. You can walk almost anywhere from here or get a cab. The Airporter bus stops right in front of the hotel. There are plenty of places to go for breakfast off site. The price is very reasonable, the rooms are clean, the staff is helpful. I walked to the Abbey Theatre and back at night with a friend. Some rooms overlook the Liffey. I'm going back this fall.

No sign of luggage yet so washing and glad I packed spare set of clothes. After a nice breakfast at motel, Al you would be proud- black pudding- enjoyed- off we went. Hop on hop off bus tour. It feels like a big country town not a city. So we ended up on the south side of the river Liffey. Went into a craft store. Marg bought some postcards. We …

We arrived in London. Now from terminal 5 to terminal 2. Easy peasy. Signs everywhere. No chance of getting lost. Another 2 hour wait. And slight delay in flight. Onto aer Lingus. Plane full. Landed about 1130 in Dublin and guess what. No luggage. As we waited for luggage to come down and finally realised that it wasn't, went to lost baggage desk …

... She talked to Iris for a little bit and then I told her how I was doing and that my phone was having issues. We got that all sorted out so my phone's working now.

It was only about 3 at this point and I was determined to stay awake until 6 or 7 and figured I would be able to sleep through the night. I took a shower and started watching a movie (Starsky and Hutch) and of course fell asleep halfway through it right there on the couch. I ...
