I went to the most "accessible" of the many caves in the Park, learned (and promptly forgot) all about lava flow and cave formation, and -- based on the rest of the day's schedule -- decided against going to another one. I'm planning on going to Lehman Caves in Great Basin National Park on the way home, so I knew I'd get a chance to do some spelunking later.

We went to the Newberry National Volcanic Monument which is between Sunriver and Bend. This site was established by Congress in 1990. This site includes 50,000+ acres of lakes, lava flows, and spectacular geologic features in central Oregon. ... time anyway. Spent the night of July 4th at the Army Corps campground in Plymouth WA. On the road again July 20 and arrived at Thousand Trails at Sun River OR. ... It was strange to realize how accustomed we had become to living amongst millions of others. The solitude was welcomed.
