Well, we finally arrived on the coast of Oregon, directly west of Eugene. It is two weeks today that we left San Clemente. Although we didn't have a planned schedule, I thought we might be here sooner. Problem is we really enjoyed everywhere we stayed, so much so we didn't want to leave.

They worked most of the afternoon and evening sanding and sealing the table. The next morning we reluctantly said our goodbyes as we left Jeff’s with our beautiful table, something that will always remind us of our amazing times and friend in Bend.

... and then inadvertently veered off onto another dirt road west, which turned out to be the Pioneer Trail, and that took me over a pass-- I don't know the name of the mountains-- and down back down to hwy 93. It was OK, and kept me generally in the right direction; if I had just a few hundred miles ahead, that would have been just fine, but I needed to put in about 550 miles to get to Burns Oregon for my motel reservation that night. Crossed into California pretty soon after departure, quickly past border inspection for fruit etc. We past a lot more farming and forestry and headed into the hills, a single snow tipped mountain lied in the middle. ... I was in farm heaven and I thank the farmer profusely for feeding us every day. Later in the day, I was passed by a bike and it woke me from a lull. I followed the other rider for awhile. The country side was nice, but I was trying to get to Bend, OR so the faster pace worked well. I decided to pull off at a vista point to take pictures and the other rider turned in also.
