The hotel is perfectly OK, although the room was nothing special. We booked a room on the executive floor with a sea view. The view is really only a side view of the beach. Hotel is connected by a walkway to another Hilton across the road. This has an all day cafe which was good for light lunches, pizza, etc. Pool area is good, and the hotel is right on the beach. Sea water was too hot to swim in when we were there in July but might be ok at other times of the year. That's not the hotel's fault! Service was excellent. Very easy to arrange a taxi virtually instantly. One real downside is that there is no free wifi in the rooms. You can pay to get it, but it is expensive, and you pay a separate fee per device which would get really expensive if you had a few devices.

Good hotel. Service was good and people very nice (mostly the Philipino staff). There is a lot of construction around the area (this is Dubai) and the Hilton Residence is getting dug up and pool area and the noise all around the Hilton Hotel is quite bad

We are still tired from our big day yesterday. We sleep in, get a late breakfast and spend the morning lazing around the hotel. It is still crazily hot.

We have booked late afternoon tickets to go up the Burj Khalifa. We have lunch and catch a taxi to the Dubai Mall. This is the largest mall in the world. Judging by everything we've heard …

We decide that this morning we will go to Aquaventure Water Park. This is a giant water park out on The Palm, which is a group of man made islands built in the shape of a palm tree. We're not sure how we're going to get there. Issy says I should ask someone in the hotel. She knows I don't like asking. I always think that I should be able to work …

We have breakfast and decide to go exploring. We head off towards Dubai Marina which only looks to be a few hundred metres from the hotel. It is ridiculously hot and uncomfortable. My iPad tells me that it will be 42 degrees here tomorrow with 91 per cent humidity, and that means it will feel like it is 59 degrees. 59 degrees! That really is …

We land in Dubai. The airport is huge and very opulent. It is so big that we have to get on a train to get to the baggage carousels. We get in the car we booked to get to our hotel

It is very hazy. We pass the Burj Khalifa. At least we think it's the Burj Khalifa; we can just see the top of it through the haze. We've booked to go up it in …

We arrived at 7am and because we upgraded a driver came and collected us and brought us to the Hilton Jumeriah. We had breakfast then went straight to the mall of Emirates for shopping !! We were there 15 mins early but it meant we found the shop we wanted to start at first. I was at the sunglasses shop and has no idea which ones to choose so we …
