... and contraptions attended the event from private bikes, full on drag bikes, very old motorcycles dating back to the early thirties and even a powered unicycle which tried to set a speed record without falling over. Once we had watched enough it was into town to find a spot to watch the side cars and the super sport bikes blast through on a practise lap. ... a little detour to the Albert Docks, before making my way back to the station to complete the rest of my journey home.

The trip, albeit short was pretty busy and I saw a lot. The island is bizarre - sea gods, tailless cats, fairy poo, three legs, printing their own money, mobile roaming - but this all adds to its character and identity. Despite the weather not being great, I would highly recommend a visit to the island

... in ideal conditions! The race commenced and fortunately for all there were no incidents, though there was a fire in the pits during a refuelling manoeuvre that went pear shaped, this caused a lot of confusion and some ruffled feathers. The event is a time trial and the pits were closed so bikes that were in for refuelling had to wait until the pits were reopened, they received some time credits. ... stock to the cog rail that rattles and scraps it's way through bleak bracing and uniquely beautiful countryside lines with stone slat fences built by mountain goats to keep thir hardy sheep in. Back on the bike and I set the GPS up to take me towards the west coast town of Peel but as usual I get distracted and take every other route going!!
