... wading through the river to check in.
The next 2 days I got very wet, figured out where to eat, how to get about, got scammed a few times but saw some canny temples and sights. Whilst also realising I had forgotten the basics like malaria tablets and mossy repellant, though when 2 months supply costs 300Rs I think I made the right choice in the long run. I've spent the first week travelling almost none stop from big city to big city and not meeting anyone western. Going to ...

... The lack of planning turned into one of the most memorable journeys we've ever experienced! In Kochi we were warmly welcomed by hot chai and two of the loveliest hosts you could dream of, Sheeba and Ashley, who run 'Greenwoods Bethlehem' homestay. We did a whistle-stop tourist tour of the old colonial island by rickshaw, stopping off at St Francis church, the Indo-Portuguese Museum, Jew town and the synagogue (although the latter we only saw from the rickshaw as we couldn't ...

Kelsey and I landed in Kochi, India and instantly took a 6 hour bus south. This is just the first of many extended public transportation trips. The city around is scarce compared to the U.S. Roads are merely sprinkled with huge billboards that only have about 3 different advertisements. Most immediately I notice the piles of trash strewn around and the scattered cows that roam. Trash just piles around here. Either the ...

... lovely but we're trying to be careful in the sun so didn't stay out for too long. We are both suffering from prickly heat - I don't think our bodies appreciated such a dramatic change in temperature! We have one more day here before heading up to Munnar, we'll be sure to keep you posted.

Missing you all, we can't believe we've only been gone a week but are having a fabulous time!

      Lots of Love
