... we were waiting for the train to arrive, the 3 of us made our speech again in Japanese. It was an emotional time to say good-bye to everyone who had done so much for us during the past week. Kiyoko had written a letter in Japanese and then translated it on the other side in English; expressing the feelings that she had not been able to communicate to us. It was so touching. ... down pretty quickly. We drove first to the family gravesite in Shimosakana. There are 2 monuments erected at this site both side by side at the top of a mound that overlooks the area. The first monument was erected by 4 people who donated money to have it built in 1953 - Jinichiro Yokota, Takeo Yokota, Toshio Ohashi, and Kikue Yamaoka. These neames were inscribed on one side of the grave marker. On the other sides are the names of our grandparents - Matsuye Yokota and ...

... was now time to go to the station. We said goodbye to Aliko and caught the thunderbird express to Kyoto, this took 2 1/2 hrs. We arrived at 4.40. Our hotel is across the road from the station. We decided to do some washing & meet up at 6.00, we then went to the shopping mall next door & looked around & had tea. Back in hotel & just found English speaking TV ...
