... or so, we got to Farlow Gap. There was a stake here and we were able to pick up Farlow Gap Trail (#106), which leads to the waterfall. This trail was much more cleared and blazed and a lot easier to follow. The trail was quite steep, but going this way it was heading down so not nearly as bad. steve - Left Marion and set off on using the interstate for a few miles then enjoyed fabulous scenery through the Blue ridge mountains.
made it to iron springs for lunch and a gang of Hardly dangerous riders trucked up. And then the heavens opened, proper Spanish type downpour.
we were in a nice bar so it was really tempting to stay and hit the Ale for the afternoon but proper adventure riders ...

... Devil's Triangle. I DID THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE!!! VERY sharp switchbacks with 10 mph...tricky dicky road.

Stopped for lunch at Shoney's, and to let the snoopy rain cloud pass. Not too much rain. Took off on the "long way" to Maggie Valley, North Carolina. Sweeping curves, and a traffic jam on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A few manageable ...

... Free Spirit 23 foot Mercedes sprinter van. Nice and cozy. We plan to take advantage of the many pullouts along the highway we have heard about for spending the night and limit our time in the larger cities. We will probably miss most of the larger salmon runs (and the bears) but will have few mosquitoes.

We left the program at the church and wandered the streets of Highlands shopping. We made purchases and again the shop owners are friendly. One recommended Victoria's Closet, a consignment shop, in Cashiers.

Due to rain we headed back to the condo with a detour to Victoria's Closet. My sisters went wild in there. Again, purchases were made.
