He appeared to be trying to disappear, a feat we all wished we could manage at that point in time. I personally felt that this experience was clearly not in the residents' best interest, and that we were the most arrogant and obnoxious sort of peeping toms: invading the space of kind people who tolerated us for untold reasons. We have arrived! We cleared immigration and customs and were met by Natasha, our guide for the next few days. Oh! If only I could capture her beautiful accent and take it home with me. We arrived at our hotel, The Residence, in the Houghton area -- home to the mansions, embassies, and Nelson Mandela. We were welcomed in by several staff and offered ...
