Went to see 'Aladdin' at the 'Opera House' in Manchester this evening. Borrowing 2 unsuspecting children for cover, we went to see a typical Panto. With bright and elaborate costumes, corny jokes that appeal to kids and adults it was an absolute scream. Best ...
Manchester, England, United Kingdom geoffrhonda... busy but it does have some lovely old buildings and a bit of character.
Rhonda- After my initial fear of a new working environment I really feel settled and happy. I think the basics of Admin work is pretty much the same wherever you go and you just need to get a grip on the little quirks of each department or staff member. The two other ladies in the office are just wonderful and we feel we have been friends for a long time. Everyone is ...
... takeoff and subsequent meals and service!
Once at Doha, we had three minutes to get through domestic customs to connect to the london flight which was quite a rush for bleary eyed travelers.... but undertaken with the help of Qatar ground staff... The Home flight was uneventful and punctuated with sleeps and flight food - nothing much to write home about... With a £30 taxi to Denham Grove where we left the car, we then set off north through very heavy traffic, many crashes and ...
... the gorge up the gorge” debacle followed by kilometres of what, bog? on top of a mountain?!! where the hell were we?!! Also, damn the reservoir where, having run out of water, Ryan requested that I wade in and try and get some water for boiling. Cold! Muddy! Undrinkable! Squidgy!
Crowden, England, United Kingdom ryanandnatasha... I was walking on. They’d paved the path with boulders?! On purpose?!
This was when my leg started coming out of its socket.
The Greedy Sheep Incident
Pennine sheep are in some parts greedy having been feed by walkers they rather expect food now. They will sneak up behind you but if you wave a stick they kind of run away and wait for you to stop paying attention again. I asked Ryan (remorseless *******) to watch ...
... raining still!
It has been a bit of a blur today, as well as the Royal Marsden we have been to Addenbrookes in Cambridge, THe Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham and now I am sitting in a cosy front room in Sheffield with a real fire!
I am excited about tomorrow as we will be going back to my home town of Newcastle. Yippee!!
I have taken a few pictures of the day.
... of disco balls, then went to a completely retro bar where I don't think they played anything beyond about 1970. Scarily Amy and I knew alot of the music - prob thanks to our parents - so we were grooving away until my heels got the better of me and fatigue and the drinking wall hit the others.
Currently in final packing mode (part done) and last minute things in the UK before I leave for London tomorrow on the next stage of this adventure.
This is just to get the ball rolling as it were.
Our aim is to have a life laundry over the next few months. Plan our year long trip through Europe. Sell or pass on to others things we need. Buy and equip a motor home. Produce a photo/video documentary of the trip.
... well as little streams, such as through Holmfirth - after the dry countryside of Australia. We returned to B&Y's house in time to get changed and go out to the Three Crowns pub for dinner. It was excellent quality pub food, presented very well and served by friendly staff. Our group consisted of B&Y, J&A, B&Y's son Jeremy, and his sons Luke and Josh. Jeremy kindly drove us all home for our last night at the Travelodge.
Oldham, England, United Kingdom julians26... then though, Sophie had insisted we all start the casual pace for the day and night. Oof. Between those three, and Gemma's roommates Michelle and Beth, this was shaping up to be a good time. I was also getting an interesting glimpse into the conversations girls have when they're among their own kind. And I thought guys could be crude. After several drinks and some dinner the girls went upstairs to get ready. When I went to the fridge to get another beer, I saw Beth, who ...
