Having left Singapore at 6:40 am Tuesday morning, I arrived in Marmaris, Turkey about 11 am this morning (Wednesday) - roughly 36 hours in that travel leg, taking account of time differences. I am looking forward to bed tonight - my first night's sleep in a bed since last Sunday night. I was somewhat anxious about travelling Malaysian Airlines, but actually it was quite good - the A380 was only ...

... just like being at home! Apart from the temples carved into the cliffs dating back to 400BC. We got onto a boat to travel down the river delta, it was spooky (or was to me as I was the only one who had seen Apocalypse Now). If I had heard choppers I would have been diving for cover. Our last breakfast. The waiter Buddy was back from his break so though we said we would see him at lunch we knew we probably would not. He would only be upset when we did not give him a tip. We wandered around the town a bit, Barry got another Turkish shave, but not such a good one as the first who was too busy. We bought some Turkish delight for work and for Joanne ...

... that was left was a shallow lake and marsh which gave rise to malaria which wiped out most of the population. An earthquake destroyed the rest of the city.

Following this we went, by boat, to a local seafood restaurant. We started with a delicious meze plate and then they served chicken, beef or fish. the meze plate, which I had was delicious.

Then the 1.5 hour ride back to the ship. Tomorrow is Kusadasi.

... corner who cooked me a very nice mince meat flat bread. Just after lunch the rain started, very heavy with loud thunder thrown in. The hotel had a power cut. They got the lifts going again fairly swiftly but wifi was out for the day. After the downpour we walked up to the old village which was much quieter but more run down. They really do have chickens in all the back yards. After our stroll we had an hour in the sun by the pool then it was waffle time. ...
