... middle of a desert – the park faces water scarcity each summer. Along the 7 mile Crater Loop you can stop off and walk around the cinder cones and tubes. We met an enthusiastic WWII veteran and his wife who were on a 5000 mile road trip – although moving a bit slow they looked like they were having a blast – proving that you are never too old for a road trip!
