The log cabin is very well appointed, real log fire, fully stocked kitchen, and the resort itself has a very nice hot pool area, with sauna which overlooks the mountains

    Beautiful Resort

. Since we were arriving a little late at the resort, the woman checking us in asked if we would we like to upgrade to a bigger unit with a better view (usually $100 more a night) for $20. We said sure and were given the key to a unit close to the main lobby.

This was a townhouse style unit with three floors. The top floor was a queen bed with a full bathroom and looked over the living room. The main floor was a full kitchen, complete with marble counters and a dishwasher, a large dining room and a living room with a wood burning fireplace. The lower level had two bedrooms and a full bathroom. The lower level was not like a basement and had nice windows to see the great view.

We picked up some wood, which was located at several areas around the resort (included with your room), and made a fire.

Beautiful all season pool, hot tub and sauna. As you sat in the pool you could look out over the mountains.

Absolutely perfect place to stay in the mountains.

Staff were very nice and friendly.

    Goodbye Jasper Hello Banff

Woke up and packed the car ready for our next destination - Banff! Bit of a hazy cloudy day so we decided to skip the Jasper Tramway which we thought we'd try and fit in this morning. Headed back down the Icefields Parkway and appreciated the scenery from a different angle. We decided to call into Moraine Lake for a look. Absolutely gorgeous colour …

Our motto for this trip was "we need to get up early." This day was no exception. At about 7 am we woke the girls and as planned Tori and I started breakfast. We had picked up a few supplies the day before and decided to make Eggs Benny. Tori is a chef at a café and this is her specialty so it was something she could whip up very easily. Tori …

We had a nice stroll around the lake which was very pretty and set amongst the snowy topped mountains.

After lunch we went to Canmore town and had lunch, the three sisters mountains are an imposing sight from the high street.

In the afternoon we checked out the Hoodoos which are oddly shaped bits of rock, a bit like the pinnacles …

We decided to go for an 11k walk beside the river, starting from where the two rivers (Bow and Spray) meet. Being on the level we set a pace to try and work off some of the excesses of the holiday. It was very pleasant with lovely views of the Spray River through the trees. The bridge at the end of the trail had been washed away by floods, so there …

A bit overcast to start with, but we still made the decision to go up the gondola to Sulpher Mountain and were rewarded with great 360 views. The red squirrel provided entertainment when we stopped for lunch by throwing pine cones onto the ground from the top of the tree to pick up later.

We spent a slow afternoon looking around the town …
