Paris Blitz Tour, Part I

... to stop there because it was closed. However, I knew that the Arc de Triumphe was open late, so I decided to take the metro over there. I’d been to it the first time I was in Paris, but I didn’t go up to the top because that was included in the museum pass.

So now that I had the museum pass, I went back to see the view from the top. I had to go up a bunch of stairs, probably about 200 or so (I forgot to look it up before I threw away my Paris ...

London: Top of the Top Dozen

... museum which is amazing, huge and daunting.

2. The London Eye. All I can say is WOW!

1. The Lion King: WOW. The most stunning stage show I've ever seen. The puppetry is brilliant, the stage, built especially for this, was fitted with a huge spiraling staircase that looked like the "rock" from the movie. It came up out of the floor. So many amazing features.

Paris and Montpellier with the Folks

... of course, must have been the reason he tumbled off the side of our 6th floor apartment into the jungle gardens down below. Yann and Darine apparently spent the next couple of days searching for the lost cat, eventually finding him in a trash bin with two broken legs and one dislocated foot. At the risk of sounding callous (because I'm sure I haven't thus far) I was really glad to be missing the cat drama here in Montpellier. Suffice it to say that Dawa is a very important being ...

LOST

... here could do in the high fashion shoes and exposed heads (no one wears warm hats in Paris apparently.) It doesn't "snow" in Paris very often I was told. The day was spent shopping and seeing some sights. I will try to attach some pictures. With the year coming to a close quickly, I can't wait to see what is next. Maybe the point of getting lost is to find things you didn't even know you had. [cue music.]

A Sad Metamorphosis on the Rue de Bretagne

... in the US feel about WalMart's encroachment. There is hope that the Subway will not destroy the Art Nouveau window (I'm not sure if there's an historic design committee for the arrondisement--I think there is), but their Subway sign is going to be completely incongruous with any other resto on the street. So who will frequent the Subway? And will they use French baguettes? I'll let you know--a bientot.

Thru the Alps and on to Pariiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

...wake up to FREEZING COLD. The little white sheet they give you in the train doesnt work that well. Good thing they gave us wool blankets. Realized that around 6 am that we were in the Alps. Beautiful scenery, COLD train. I'm staying in bed. (+ my head hurts......imagine that)

... windows over arcades. Many significant events have occurred here over the years such as the three day tournament to celebrate the marriage of Louis XIII to Anne of Austria in 1615. Madame de Sevigne, was born here in 1626; Cardinal Richelieu, pillar of the monarchy, stayed here in 1615 and Victor Hugo, the writer, lived here for 16 years. We arrived at dusk and played gin rummy as the sun set over the horizon...wandering back to the hotel right ...

Paris -- Day 2

... and a short tour through Dauphin's quarters, we were ready for the train ride back. The girls took a short nap and Dan found a coffee shop with free internet WIFI. Then it was off to dinner on the Champs Elysées and a visit to the Arc de Triomphe. Karla made the trek to the top for some pictures while Dan and Susan waited at the base. After a full day, we were ready for bed....

Walking around and seeing Paris

... Break. They were already drunk and it was noon. Be careful if you go in this area, these guys will come up to you and ask you where you are from. While they ask you, they put a piece of string on your finger and start making a bracelet for you. So basically they have you handcuffed with this thread, and then they charge you five euro for it, before you even know what happened. We didn't fall for it, but that was really weird. Next we got on the metro and headed to the Cathedral of ...
