    The day is the hottest it's been thus far on the trail- the trail has been very exposed, the other plants are shrubs and water-resistant bushes .

    Nothing like waking up next to a dirt road. There had been one bold and curious deer in the night but my timing was good and I am sure I gave it a solid scare. Other than that, we slept soundly.
