Friday, July 17, 2017. PCT day 89. Miles 1412.2-1432.4 I am definitely regretting cowboy camping last night. The mosquitoes were notorious, and it was damn hot even just using my silk liner. It didn't cool off until around midnight. I am full of bites. They even bit through my clothes. The mosquitoes are the one thing I despise the most on this trip. On another note, Cuban B finally caught up to me. He is my trail twin. Everyone thinks I am him ...

Thursday, July 16, 2015. PCT day 88 Miles 1390-1412.2 Today was a 22 mile day on the Hat Creek Rim. I have to say that it got quite hot, up to 91 degrees. I started hiking by around 6:45. Before I left, I made sure to camel up, drinking two whole liters. The morning was cool and pleasant. I had gotten reliable report that the water cache ...

... Shepherd was trying for that too but didn't leave until later because he was still waiting on gear. Checking out by 11, I walked to JJs cafe for lunch, ordering the usual big fat burger with fries. Too bad they had no milkshakes. Finally getting on the trail by 2ish, my goal was just 12 miles today to where there was water 0.25 miles off trail down a canyon (Lost Creek). The PCT at this point takes you on the infamous Hat Creek ...

Tuesday, July 14, 2015. PCT day 86. Miles 1361-1378 Knowing that the post office closed at 3pm, I made it to Old Station, CA by 2:30pm. It was only about 16-17.5 miles into town. Leaving Lassen-Volcanic National Park, the trail dropped from 6700 to 4300 feet, skirting Hat Creek before getting into town. When I arrived to the Hat Creek Resort, to my surprise, I saw Mr and Mrs Smith and Shepherd. Damn, I thought I'd ...

Monday, July 13, 2015. PCT day 85. Miles 1336-1361 Today the PCT took me thru Lassen-Volcanic National Park. But before taking me there, I crossed the North Fork of the Feather River. And a nice river it was, the kinda place you wanna spend all day in. Lassen Volcanic National Park is named after the nearby volcano, Mt. Lassen. Apparently the last time this volcano blew was about 100 years ago. The magnificent part of the day was when the PCT takes you nearby ...
