... think he is me. He is obviously Cuban. We hiked together all day. He is a cool dude. I first met him many miles back (about mile 550). The group he was hiking with was going to slow for him, so he moved on. The best part about today was Burney Falls State Park. I timed my day to get there around noon, 10 miles from where I last camped. They had a snack bar, where I had a big lunch. After that, we, of-course went for a swim. That cold water was ...

Thursday, July 16, 2015. PCT day 88 Miles 1390-1412.2 Today was a 22 mile day on the Hat Creek Rim. I have to say that it got quite hot, up to 91 degrees. I started hiking by around 6:45. Before I left, I made sure to camel up, drinking two whole liters. The morning was cool and pleasant. I had gotten reliable report that the water cache ...

... the trail skirts a dry cliff for 30 miles. This rim is exposed with no shade and no on-trail water. It can get really hot here as well. There was a trail side attraction called Subway cave. Of course, I had to stop and check out this lava tube formation. Finishing by 1800, I got my water from Lost Creek and enjoyed dinner watching the sunset and enjoying the views of Mt. Shasta, 100 miles away. Tomorrow I hike 20 miles to the next water ...

Tuesday, July 14, 2015. PCT day 86. Miles 1361-1378 Knowing that the post office closed at 3pm, I made it to Old Station, CA by 2:30pm. It was only about 16-17.5 miles into town. Leaving Lassen-Volcanic National Park, the trail dropped from 6700 to 4300 feet, skirting Hat Creek before getting into town. When I arrived to the Hat Creek Resort, to my surprise, I saw Mr and Mrs Smith and Shepherd. Damn, I thought I'd ...

Monday, July 13, 2015. PCT day 85. Miles 1336-1361 Today the PCT took me thru Lassen-Volcanic National Park. But before taking me there, I crossed the North Fork of the Feather River. And a nice river it was, the kinda place you wanna spend all day in. Lassen Volcanic National Park is named after the nearby volcano, Mt. Lassen. Apparently the last time this volcano blew was about 100 years ago. The magnificent part of the day was when the PCT takes you nearby ...
