We were lucky enough to get to visit the zoo, on a slightly rainy morning, all this meant was there was no one else there, so we were free to look at the animals in any order we wanted and take as much time as we wanted walking around. I also found that the rain puts the animals into a different mood, and it made photographing them a new and exciting experience for me. ...

... to lag behind and whine, forced us to wait at the corner while she walked as slowly as possible, refused to hold my had as we crossed the cross walk, and screamed that I was hurting her when I held her hand anyway. (We had a nice little audience as we started off in the opposite direction. Still, our blue dot said we weren't going the right way, and the next street sign I found also didn't match anything on my map. ...

... s been permanently closed. We satiated ourselves by pressing our noses to the glass of the myriad of jewelry shops, and then headed to the "castle district".

The castle district was a neighborhood built during the art nouveau movement, and in the 1960s they were going to tear it down. In order to save it, artists started buying the properties and fixing the place up. The rest is history! So anyway, we spent a delightful walk enjoying the mini castles and palaces the district ...

... one thing I didn't have time to do yesterday was Grand Place or Grote Markt.

I have never known a city not to have an Information Centre at the main train station. The Info booth is apparently at Grand Place - but there are no maps telling you how to get to Grand Place. Its only about 1/2km from Central but with all the tiny winding cobbled streets, it's not straightforward finding it. I eventually stumbled across it ...

... pubs we went to had 4 different dance rooms where we were able to bust a move! Yeary's best friend,Greg came and meet up with us and became my new buddy .The next day, Greg showed me around Ghent and took me to the amazing flea market and food market. He is from Brussels which was my next destination and so he offered to meet me there on Saturday to show me around!
