... ride to Bruges was quite easy because we had first class tickets and the first class areas were usually empty. I wasn't given an option when buying the Eurail train pass for first or second class, probably to get max bucks out of us foreigners (the passes are only for non-EU travelers and you have to buy them prior to your trip).
