We walked to the deportation center iof the Jews for 1942 and 1943. It used to be a theatre with a first and second balcony. As children were born, they had to include religion on birth certificate. 80% of the Jewish community disappeared. The deportation center is the oldest holocaust memorial in Europe. ... Amsterdam feature: 3 flights of super steep, narrow stairs! Randy and Gigi were sweaty messes after hauling our luggage up those suckers!

We settled in, then hit the neighborhood for dinner and then the grocery store for some essentials (water, milk, fruit, etc). The grocery store was an adventure in itself since everything was in Dutch! We got a kick out of some of the items we spotted - check out the pictures :)
