Day 12 - Rest

... as seemed to be the case in Catalonia the enjoyment was diminished by the volume of traffic. I arrived early that evening into the Roman town of Torredembarra and to the expansive blue of the Med, coast to coast in ten days, I have to admit I was pretty pleased with myself. During my usual camp making process I started talking to the German couple in the pitch next to me and after hearing of my journey they insisted I had some food and wine ...

... that we werent ready to go to sleep and so tried to go for a walk and find somewhere to get him a beer at 2am - impossible as only the clubs and the kebab shops were open. so we sat around watching some drunk people in one of the squares for a while, there was this hilarious old guy who was obsessed by a straw filled with a droplet of drink, he would tip it one way the the liquid would wobble down to the lower end of the straw, then he would tip it the other way and it would ...

Barcelona - Exploding

... in the area for dinner. Food was simple and homely, but there was only one person in the place that spoke english he was one of the chef's, they had a set menu of three courses, my favourite was the bread, it is served slighty toasted with cloves of garlic and half tomatos, the idea is that you rub the garlic on the bread then squeeze and rub the tomato on the bread followed by a drizzle of olive oil so you end up with crispy crusts and soggy tomato garlicy bread ...

First Entry!

... And absolutely loving it. I got here on Saturday after a long plane ride with a stop in London, stayed in a hostel the first night (it was really pretty nice), and since Sunday have been staying in a homestay with a woman named Monste. She´s absolutely amazing. She speaks some English, so I kind of get the gist of what she´s saying most of the time. Though there are definitely times when she´s speaking that I just say ¨si¨ a lot and ...

Homage to Catalonia

... and thence to Chester Pennsylvania, we would surely be Rangers fans. My brief dalliance with cheering against my youngest son's team soon ended. The Rangers fans were drunk, profane, and generally shocking. The stadium served only non-alcoholic beer, which obviously had not prevented the traveling Scots from achieving a fine pre-game state of sodden hostility. (What they needed to control the Rangers fans was something along the lines of liquid Prozac, and ...

Final Stop: Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya

This is the final point of interest in my journey. I was not interested in the museum itself but rather the fountain there. Unfortunately it´s only open during the day and summer nights. Nevertheless, I climbed up the small hill to the museum to see a panaromic night view of the city. Not many people were there since the museum ...

... together for the morning and then met a new roomie from the states. We decided to head out for a drink at a local bar, which I seriously miss. Definetely prefer the bars to the club scene. We decided on the place down the street with the live music. The one I mentioned a few nights ago which I did check out, but left because I was by myself. So tonight there was some jazz and a really good sax player. It was great. The place was packed. A nice relaxing night with ...
