So today is our last day and we are both ready to be done with it! We arrived not until noon in Alicante and we had reserved an excursion to see two towns near Alicante. One was Jalon and is famous for Muscatel wine and the other was Aleta famous for nothing except that the tour guide lives there. So this day turned out to be a double holiday in Spain and ...

Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands jessicahwangSo today was the first day of the official CIEE program in Alicante, Spain. I realize now just how freaking lucky I was to have Elizabeth as my travel companion. I'm so glad it worked out well. We like exploring and we both have enough guts to get us around as well as we're on the same schedule when going out and about around the town and we were able to discover quite a bit just on our own in the last two days in Alicante ...

To have thousands of visitors in the winter was a big deal and the town was buzzing. The girls and I hung out at the beach until Victor was finished with the race. No, he didn't win: a Kenyan man did. The Kenyans always win. Alicante In the afternoon we made the short trip to Alicante for lunch. We had steamed mussels (surprisingly good), cuttlefish with vinegar (very good), grilled artichokes, potatoes ...
Alicante, Spain sarbs... castle ... or so we thought. There is an escalator you can take most of the way up, but it was broken. And the access from the beach was also closed, so it took us a while to find access from the old town. We also received conflicting directions from different people.

We finally managed to find a path and hiked ... and hiked ... we followed a path to nowhere that took us to the base of the castle walls, with no safe way of entering ...
