... foto. Ook voor aanvang van de nachtrit vanuit Ciudad Bolivar werd er van iedereen een foto gemaakt en met zo’n 10.000 bussen alleen al in 't busstation van Maracay vragen we ons af wat er met die 246 miljoen foto’s gebeurt.

¡Valencia sucks!
... losertron wanted to drive me all the way to Tucacas right then, saying hotels in Valencia were all 200Bs per night. I suspected he was deceiving me to get an enormous taxi fare all the way to Tucacas so I demanded a hotel and we set off.
It wasn´t far but he charged a high rate (I forgot to negotiate before I got in again!) Hotel was about half the rate he said it would be, which is still expensive compared to what I´ve been paying. ...
Up in the mountains

King and Macdonalds, but I just cant bring myself to firstly pay the stupid prices (9 usd for a big whopper) and secondly eat something that I wouldn't dream of eating in the UK, but there that's me. 'If you were suitably hungry you'd eat anything' is what I would have said to that, and it's true, so I couldn't have been. Finally we found a nice little place that sold fresh juices and 'real' food, so we settled down to eat.

... that the bus terminals in Venezuela are like taxi ranks and most of the buses are owned by individuals. They leave on a 'when full' basis and the touts there just try get you on the first bus leaving in the vague direction of where you really want to go... Doesn't sound all that bad, but add in 35 degrees, humidity, still poor grasp of spanish and the worry of getting mugged in the dodgy stations it becomes a little more stressful. ...

Ik was gepakt en gezakt met een slaapzak om de nachtbus van Merida naar Valencia te kunnen trotseren maar wat bleek op die bus was het helemaal niet koud! ·s Morgens vroeg aangekomen in Valencia en direct de bus op naar Chichirivichi, Morrocoy National Park. Na een half uur met pak en zak te hebben rondgelopen kwam ik aan in een posada die niet open was. Met behulp van een local in andere posade terechtgekomen die gerund werd door een lieve oude spaanse man. Met een boot ben ...
