\what a Big Day Out in London

... Lord Nelson, commander of the Imperial Fleet (against Napoleon) and other luminaries including General Slim, WW2 commander, Governor General of Australia and Viceroy to India among other things - busy guy. From St Paul's we ventured back on the Metro (no Black fools this time) and went to Waterloo Station. We walked over the Millennium Bridge with the Houses of Parliament in the background and Big Ben, to the south is the London Eye and ...

... on either side of us, most of which we already knew from our walking tours. But this guide had one of those yobbo accents, the ones where they skip the t's and h's, and mispronounce other letters. eg. "I think he's batting with Michael Atherton" becomes "I fink e's ba'ing wiv Mi'ool Afer'on" (no idea why i thought of that example). I'm convinced their habit of skipping letters is simply cultural laziness. Nevertheless, the guide knew his stuff and we were ...

... first time for us visiting London ... We had planned to spend a couple of weeks, then go to Stoke to see his family. At the end we found a good price flight to Dublin, and we decided to spend three days there, and return by plane to Liverpool and then take the bus to Stoke. My father gave us a surprise paying us a hotel in Liverpool for two nights ... The trip was really great ... The London hotel was very good ...

... the tunnel the joke I had previously made turned into reality. Was it because it was London, or was it because of our mood? We arrive at the station and proceed to drag our baggage out to the closest taxi rank. Turns out its the old style taxi's. A short ride later and we arrive at the hotel. We are offered an upgraded room "complete with all you see in the cabinet" (bath robes, slippers, complimentary water upon arrival (?!?) for 20£ a night. A polite refusal sees ...

... shot and scale anyways. Did the traditional approach across Westminster bridge. The view down the Thames has sure changed over the years, with the "London Eye" ferris wheel and the new complex above Charing Cross station - hmmm, maybe that's not so new, I just don't remember it. Crowds of people around Westminster, Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, and not all tourists, partly due to the continued summer ...

Decided to check out London at that time, quite interesting and located a small supermarket to fulfil our munchies! Woo hoo we were even the very first down at breakfast that morning - must be a record for me LOL hehhe!

... privilege of hearing those sounds. Recorded sound and musical ideas become property and with all property it has an owner. Edison (son of a Canadian), the Bill Gates of his time, perfected the gramophone in 1877. His intention was to sell them and get rich. Subsequently, having one became all the rage. One of the side effects of his invention was that a viral epidemic of ale-swilling English children from the 1940's, invaded in their own bedrooms and with unbelievable ...

... zone where it is estimated that by 2014 the population of Dubai will more than double. We managed to resist the large shopping malls but saw the large ski run from the outside. Our driver drove us around the Dubai Creek golf course which left Ron salivating - maybe next time!!! Every large luxury goods retailer is represented near the gated estates housing the expat communities. Not our scene as we found the souqs, particularly the spice souq ...
