... It's awesome and noisy and threatening and joyful. Our lives are golden. We get to take it all in. Five pizza delivery motos rotate in and out in front of us. Lots of duct tape keeping them running and all together. Just like our spinning globe. Don't know how it all stays together and don't care. As long as it does. Strange encounters of a genuine kind. Sandy. She a lovely young woman running the fruit and health food store a few doors ...

... we were out of change (thus no way to tip him), so we ran across the street to the Avocado Restaurant and ordered their amazing chocolate dessert to go. With our dessert in hand and some change we were rushed off to the port to catch our ferry to Crete. This isn't a typical ferry. Attractive, rambling along the foothills of the mountains of Crete. We decided to take the circular tour in the double-decker. Really the best way to tour the ...

... we decided we would tackle it anyway, especially after all the food we'd been eating since boarding the cruise. We took a cable car (kind of scary) to the top of the mountain where the town of Fira lies. Of course, the hike turned out to be much more difficult than anticipated: we hiked almost half of the island - about 7 miles - up and down rocky cliffs to the next town of Oia in the hot sun. But it was totally worth it. The panoramic views we had the entire way ...

Greece....who knew there was such a market for fur

A travel blog entry by jimbeaux on Sep 29, 2015

... harbor area. We take a walk around the lake, which looks as if it empties into the Ionian Sea. Not sure- but I just can't get over the blue water. So blue and refreshing and hiding nothing. The fish, so many, many fish.

The shopping here in town is rather luxurious to say the least. Way, WAY too rich for our meager pocketbook. I can’t tell you how many fur stores I saw – it has to be 90 ...
