Historical Traveler Reviews of Hershey Lodge And Conv Ctr
Great place for kids but a little pricey
from network_guy7
We stayed for 1 night in June 2003. For the money we spent, I was expecting a little more. The kids loved the pool area and free putt-putt in the evening. I had higher hopes for the room quality. They were very dated and could stand some updating. The hotel lobby and grounds were very impressive. Next time, I might pay the extra $$ and stay at The Hotel Hershey.
Not worth the extra cost
from hebsy
We have a family of two adults and 3 kids (ages 12, 11 and 3.) The hotel required that we book two rooms since we have five people. A two day stay in the mid week off season ran over $800. The power shut off in both rooms at separate times as a result of using hair dryers.
Dinner at the Bears Den also overpriced and average. A side salad that consisted of lettuce and one cherry tomato cost over $4. The building is poorly designed. Long confusing walks in insufficently marked corrridors. Not likely to stay here again
Nice place

We stayed in Hershey lodge for a quick visit on our way back from Washington, DC. It's a very nice lodge with variety of restaurants. We dined in the Bears that stays open till midnight, generous portions for the kids, nice food and big screens for sports, each table has its own screen..neat. The pool's ceiling is made of glass so you can see the daylight, it was a sunny day, much better than the closed indoor artificially lighted ones. We had our brunch in the steakhouse by the fireplace, china, nice silverware great atmosphere, quality food.. Only thing was the price $249 is so high for a check in at 5pm and check out at 11am.
Nice place in Hershey

We stayed at the Hershey Lodge back in May. While the lobby is beautiful, the rooms are very basic. Nevertheless, our room was clean and decorated with a Hershey theme. If you stay here, be prepared to walk. Our room was a good five minute walk from the lobby. Overall, we had a nice stay here but it certainly isn't the Hotel Hershey.
Had a very nice visit

Booked two nights at the Lodge, but wished we had booked more. This is a full service facility. Room was nice, very clean. Hotel is very large, so you may have to walk a bit to get to the main lodge but that was no problem. Lodge has 6 resturants. Prices were reasonable. My boys 10 & 12 loved the Bears Den, an ice hockey themed sports spot. There are 3 nice pools, tennis courts, an 18 hole miniture golf course, and hourly planned activities, from Hershey Trivia, to pool games to meeting the characters. There are several game rooms with a nice variety of games. The free shuttle bus to the park was a real plus! If you don't have children I wouldn't book here. It is definitely a "family" resort. There were kids everywhere. We had such a great time we are already planning a trip back next Spring, but this time we'll stay longer.
Good service and amenities

Our stay at the Hershey Lodge was a pleasant experience. A great place for families, this hotel features game rooms, pools, workout facilities and several restaurants. There is also bus service to Hersheypark.
Service was very friendly and we had no problems.
Get Ready to Walk
from SINFULSTARS
Put your walking shoes on when you get to the Hershey Lodge because that's what you'll do. The architect who designed this facility and the expansion should return to school. No matter what part of the Lodge you are in you must walk and walk to get to the Lobby, Pool, Activites, etc. In addition, if you aren't fortunate enough to get a parking spot close to your room, you'll be parking a mile or more away, the lodge doesn't seem to have enough convient parking for its guests. If you can spend the extra $$ I would strongly recommend the Hershey Hotel instead, had reservationists not convinced me to stay at the Lodge but at the Hotel, I'm sure I would have enjoyed the trip much more. On a positive note, dinner at the Fireside was excellent.
Customer Service A+

Stayed in August 2002 and November 2002. Rooms were pricey. Customer service was top-notch. (Disney could learn a thing or two from them.) Rooms were O'K, and crib provided was not suitable for my son to sleep in. Otherwise, nice experience. Grounds are beautiful. Pool was crowded, but nice. Food was good.
Nice but not what expected

We were a little disappointed with the Hershey Lodge. We normally stay at places like the Holiday Inn. In fact, we had just left a Holiday Inn in Gettysburg before checking into the Hershey Lodge, and it was very nice. We thought that we would pay the extra money to stay at a really nice place. It definately wasn't worth it for us. Maybe if we stayed for a few days and had time to use the very nice facilities - two pools, mini-golf, tennis courts etc. The room had an outdoor entrance and we were not given very good directions on how to get to the room.
Once we found the lot they told us to park in, we found out it wasn't near our room at all. We were not happy since it was pretty late and we were all tired. No one offered to help us to the room. The rooms were clean but they weren't as nice as we thought they would be. The lobby and other areas of the Hershy Lodge were very nice though. We didn't think it was really worth the extra money.
