Hard to leave this precious little town - last pic's attached.
And then we drove, and we drove, and we drove - good ol' Ricardo wanted to drive it (we should have done a distance check ah well....we made it ...my navigating ensured we didn't put on ANY extra miles.
Arrived @ Rothenburg about 4 pm to just a gorgeous boutique hotel …
... particularly unusual had merchant stands permanently attached all around its base. There was also a wein (wine) festival going on, although we chose to have coffee and pastry instead. Phil went alone to a fortress across the Main as it was about a 20 minute walk almost straight up. Views from up top were wonderful. In the evening we shared a lovely dinner aboard with 4newfound friends to celebrate Phil's ...
... not the 3 minutes red hot needle showers of Laacher see) and Wi-Fi (hence my catch up)
We got set up, had tea, made a failed satellite dish set up attempt and had a walk into the very picturesque town which became increasingly filled with Japanese and other tourists as the night went on.
With a plan for our sightseeing on Thursday we retired for the evening after visiting a hostelry where an American waiter served us (no language problems there then!) ...
... cute but totally different to other towns we had seen. Onward bound we continue to the medieval town of Rothenburg, did the nightwatchman's tour which was fantastic. Beautiful town
That was our last town in Bavaria The next day is our longest drive...... 384 km to Prague plus getting lost time! but we will be prepared........ We will ask for NO local advise!! We will use every device at our disposal!!!
Morning tour We enjoyed a tour this morning and our first stop was the Bishops Residence, this turned out to be the most opulent place we had been to. All gold leaf, beautiful tapestries, chandeliers and painted ceilings. The first ceiling is the largest in Europe, larger than the Sistine chapel. We oohed and ahead our way around, unfortunately no photographs but we bought a book so that we can enjoy it all over again when we get home. The gardens were beautifully laid out ...
