We soaked in the atmosphere for a bit before heading to the cabin, which was an adventure in itself! It truly was in the middle of nowhere, with dirt tracks of at least 30 degree inclination proving a challenge for our wee Ford Fiesta. We managed though, and the result was so very worth ...

We will be in Georgia for just a couple days. I wish we had more time to explore. Interesting side note: The Atlanta NHRA Dragway is actually here in Commerce, and the Southern Nationals are here next week. I can remember when they built the New England Dragway in Epping, NH, ...
... for many years and decided to head for the mountains for a change. But mountains and Florida are not quite synonymous. The nearest was either South Carolina or northern Georgia. The Appalachian Trail has always held mystique since meeting a through hiker many years ago. So we headed to Georgia and Mile 1 (or Miles 1,146 pending where you start).

... Gainesville, GA. We are staying at the Super 8 Motel. We will arise in the morning, pack up PEARL and head out for another day's ride. We will hopefully visit the "Our Lady of the Angels Monastary" and the "Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament" in Hanceville,AL and will stay in Irondale,AL tomorrow night.

... and chatted in her breakfast nook and watched the hummingbirds and other birds out the windows - very pleasant. Aldo came over after work, and Mike, Donna, and Colleen joined us shortly afterwards. Such fun being all together. Barbara cooked a lovely dinner of asparagus wrapped in swiss cheese and prosciutto, with a bowl of berries, and rolls. Key lime square for dessert - very yummy! Great conversation and good times.
